Just a reminder. No matter how bad its been, or how bad you think it will be. No matter how much you hate our coach, our GM, our new players, we have 73 games and 5 months to go. Relax. Catch your breath. This is what losing bad feels like with expectations and it hurts. Hell, we haven't even seen our team fully healthy. This isn't blind optimism from me, I'm just speaking the truth.

So we have 73 more games of watching this crap? Wonderful.

Usually I'm more optimistic but this team looks no better than our previous teams and after a certain point you have to stop blaming the players and start looking at the coach. I hate to say it because I love monty. But I'm sick of seeing the same exact results from much better players

I know. But firing Monty fixes nothing. Just another distraction and Randy Ayers coaching until we find a replacement. Replacing a coach during a season just usually isn't a successful endeavor

Yeah. Unless the plan is to hire Karl immediately, they have to stay the course. Interim coach Hanners and Interim GM Loomis is a tank strategy.

with cp: "man! monty is such a great coach"
without cp before AD: "man, monty has NO ONE to work with"
with AD and EG: "man, monty can't catch a break. all of his good players are injured"

with AD, a healthy EG, a borderline all-star PG, and the former rookie of the year: "monty fricking sucks" or "monty doesn't have anderson, wait til anderson"

Not making excuses for him. Look at some of his decision making tonight. Holding davis out for 6 minutes in the 2nd quarter because of two fouls. I'm just saying it is a loooong season. If this is how we handle ourselves under disappointment to expectations then the entire fan base is going to commit suicide for the next decade any time we fail. Just relax guys. This goes for myself too. I've overreacted too

Well that's my hope. I realize it's irrational to think that's a legit possibility but I'm just crossing my fingers for this right now.

Someone who cares about season ticket renewals, like Tom Benson, would disagree. It makes me kind of nervous about all the Avery Johnson message board chatter. No it's not from any legit sources, but if the FO is desperate and don't want or can't get Karl, there aren't too many in season options available.

SVG's name is being thrown around. I like the idea of bringing him in, but what about Jeff Van Gundy?

He's available, and I think he's a better coach.

Wouldn't JVG just be a different version of Montyball? His best success came when the rules on defense were different.

Why are people on this board obsessed with these re-retreads?

yes, JVG had his main success as a pat riley clone back in the all-D 90s/early 00s. that style of ball not only almost killed the NBA, but it is impossible to do now with the hand check rules in place

well you have 3 options in NBA coaching

1. up and coming assistant
2. re-tread
3. former player without experience (which is small, and brooklyn is feeling the pain now)

3 is probably not a real option

we tried 1 and it failed, so people want to try 2

I was talking about this

re-retread

Guys that have failed time and time and time again. I'll gladly take a guy like Karl.
