You really can't get emotionally invested in football until your mid teens. When an ice cream cone takes away the sting of a playoff loss... well... yeah. That's why I hate it when people say 'I've been a fan since X' with X being the date they were born. That said, it's nobodies fault when they were born so if you're mid-twenties or younger then you've known mostly good times. However, you can also appreciate why older fans tend to be more 'demanding' -- they know success is fleeting in the NFL and these last few years under Payton are as close to competing for multiple titles as this team will possibly be for the next few decades. You just never know.

The Calvin is getting embarrassed in this thread. Ouch

Am I really? I said "made the playoffs" when i obviously meant "win". Seems like the ones making a big deal of that are the ones embarrassing themselves

I agree. But early 90s were good. He's just young and only remembers the billy joes period

I am so sorry. I was going by what i remember as a 4 year old kid going to the game in 96 or so. Will you forgive me for my mistake in wording?

I could care less about that one typo. But you downed the whole 90s. Fun fact: the saints never had a losing season with the done patrol together

Didn't matter, Mora couldn't win a playoff game to save his life.

I was obviously talking about going to games as a kid and did not mean to insinuate that the entire 90s sucked..my pop still talks and likes to reminisce about the dome patrol when we brag about Ryan's defense

Why are you giving the OP so much shite? Over a typo and a little contradiction?

The point of his post was that we are in the Golden Days of Saints Football and he's right.

I'm 23, and I can honestly say I didn't become emotionally invested until I was around 11-12.

I grew up liking the Saints and Brett Favre (have family from Wisconsin), and started watching football when I was about 6-7. It was around the 1999-2000 season I really became obsessed.

I might have went over the top with my first response. But I don't need a little snot nosed punk sendin me Jeremy Piven gifs. Bottom line the Mora era was pretty decent compared to before him. Of course we are now in a whole new era which has been outstanding.

I am 21, and I remember my first ever saints game when Jim Everett was the QB, and we lost to the chargers. I can honestly say that I became a saints fan for life after the Ricky Williams draft pick.

Jim Everest made me sick. But he did go after Rome which makes him an all time great.
My first game

John kasey was the Seahawks kicker. He missed an easy fg at the end.

Here are some numbers on the Saints since 2006..

In Primetime since 06:
11-2 in MNF(6-15 before)
8-3 in SNF

Record at the Dome:
45-20 at home since 06 including 32-9 since the Super Bowl Season of 2009

66-45 record since 06, counting Payton's absent year..still very good

As young as i am, i still remember the disappointing seasons of the mid 90s and the sweet taste of joy once we WON our first playoff game in 2000(I am fully aware we MADE the playoffs before then--excuse earlier typo)..I remember the bagheads in the superdome, the jokes..But hearing Henderson say "Hakim drops the ball!!" will forever be cemented into my memory. It's incredible that we have a HOF quarterback, one of the best coaches in the NFL, top 10 defense and probably the best offense in the NFL AGAIN this year...

Just wanted to vent my joy in this team and city..These are the days, guys..Teams cycle in and out of glory days and just wanna say how lucky we are to be in the golden years
