blaming weed for a person's problems, especially as a gateway drug, is completely retarded. I don't smoke due to the professional risk, but it is not some addictive or life altering/harming drug

You can say you know for a fact that weed always leads to harder drugs is fallacious and not a valid argument. By the same logic alcohol, tobacco, coffee, etc. are all gateway drugs

Tigerbait, you added the word "always" to the quote. That's not what he said. Very few things, if used inappropriately, are harmless. Not sure of your experience with marijuana, but you do seem passionate about the topic. Tyrann will be fine. And good for him.

Yeah I'm not sure exactly what he had to "turn around". Its not like he was a bad person. He just needed to learn that sometimes you have to play by rules that you might not think are very fair if you want to play at all (insert relevant on-the-field-off-the-fieldisms)

And here is Deadspin's more practical take on Mathieu's former "problem."

The kid was in line for the Heisman, but that can't be because he used cannabis..... What's wrong with this picture?? Could it be that all the shite we have heard for years is complete bullshite about the effects of cannabis?

He made mistakes that cost him, but that does not make him a bad person. Yes, he should have had more self control and stopped using (selfish), but he was young.

End of story. I wish hime the best!!

Tigerbait, I am not going to get in this with you. But I have seen it first hand, and I promise you nothing retarded about it as you stated.

uh, he said almost always. That isn't close to being true

so you are taking your limited personal experiences and making it a fact about the rest of the population?

People smoke all the time without going on to harder drugs. Saying that it "almost always" leads to harder drugs isn't true and certainly isn't a fact. Correlation =/ causation

quote:

A known fact that smoking weed almost always leads to harder drugs, coke etc...

please show me these facts. A large % of drug abusers have smoked before, but a large % of smokers haven't done harder drugs. Personality types... Cocaine and heroine use have actually gone down over the last few years yet Marijuana has had substantial growth

He was my favorite player ever at LSU. Then he let us all down. I still pull for him though.

I hope that He keeps working hard, and continues to mature. He is a good guy and I am glad to see him do well.

Addicts always want to say it is harmless, everyone does it, it has no ill effects, alcohol and tobacco are worse, it is a witch hunt, old people just don't understand.

Answer? I'm old enough to have experienced the problems. I'm old enough to have seen way to many examples of destroyed lives, wrecked health in a lot of friends, sons and daughters of friends can close kin.

It is not harmless. It does lead to harder things because that is the usual nature of the peer group, and youth WILL follow their peers.

Good for HB IF, I mean it, IF he has shaken his problem. But the truth is, addiction is for life and every day is a new struggle to stay clean.

It is amazing the number of people who want to enable him, say it is the fault of everyone else. It is depressing in the extreme. Best of luck to TM. He's going to need it, and some solid friendship guidance, in about two years when he thinks he is in the clear. That is when this type stuff reappears.

good Lord, dude-- the 'gateway drug' routine? Seriously?

You saw that documentary where when the Negroes get all hopped up on weed they go out and rape white women?

2011 SECCG was probably the most exciting 4 hours of football I've ever watched.

TM7 was absolutely ridiculous!
