I also think OP should make of how many votes each grade received and an overall average.

I'm somewhere in between 3 and 4. He is trending down pretty fast, but he could salvage himself down the road.

The best thing that he's done in YEARS (maybe in his entire tenure) is hire Cam Cameron, and if both Les and Cam are around for 2-3 more years, and Cam spends all of that time building his offense around Jennings while Miles continues to stack the team with high-quality recruits, we could be in very good shape.

If there is anything I've ever felt good about when it comes to Miles coaching qualities it's definitely recruiting. Lately I HAVE been bitter about all the recruits we've lost to Bama, but I'm starting to come to terms with how it's really outside of our control with what NS is doing there.

So, TL;DR:
3.5 for Miles but Cameron hire over the next few years may save this program

I would have to give him a 3 right now, after next year I will be at 0. I give him a 3 now because of his good recruiting classes. In the last 8 years LSU has had 6 top 10 or better recruiting classes. With that being said, I still don't think he has been good at recruiting great quarterbacks or offensive line men. For a man that played o-line, coached o-line and tight ends in the NFL and college, I thought we would have had more dominate lines in his nine year tenure. Sure as hell have never learned to utilize tight ends. I will never agree with his in game management, his use of time outs and game clock. Doesn't seem like his teams the last few years have gotten better as the season progressed and last year he completely lost the team after the BAMA game. Playing down to your opponents level is one thing I could never understand and the Ole Miss game proved that one again this year. I have no problem losing to a team like BAMA because I am realistic and understand that some teams are just better, but there was no excuse for Ole Miss. I will never like his demeanor during pressers or interviews. Man sounds like a 10 year trying to explain brain surgery sometimes. Lastly, I can't stand losing just like the next person and some of the crap he comes up with to explain losses just pisses me off. Don't think I will ever be above 4 because I don't see us being any better than 2 losses a year under his watch.

Was miles thought of as a great coach prior to coming to LSU? 28-21 record at Ok. St. says no.

He proved that he could build a traditional doormat into a winning program.

Ok St. had 1 winning season in the 10 years prior to Les.

Les had 3 winning seasons in his 4 years there. His only losing season was his first year.

well played

Scoring Update per the request.....Up to this point, here are the results as best as I could record (pretty damn close, but not scanned/recorded perfectly)...190 votes recorded:

Average = 5.8 (Miles average score indicates he is somewhere between "average" and "solid"

Here is a record of the instances of each score given

01-***(5)
02-******(9)
03-***********(14)
04-**********************(21)
05-**********************************************(36)
----average rating of Miles is 5.8 between "average" and "solid"
06-***********************(22)
07-*************************************(31)
08-***********************************************(36)
09-******(9)
10-*****(7)

10 - Miles is simply the best, and we're gonna hear him roar for a lot more.
9 - Miles is damn strong
8 - Miles is a high qawality coach
7 - Miles is pretty damn good
6- Miles is solid.
5 - Miles is Average as a coach - and we've seen the best of him at LSU
4 - Miles is on the way down,
3 - Miles is already on the slide - replace him soon
2- Miles must go ASAP
1- Miles is horrible as a coach.

7. Good quality coach . But better ramp it up before he gets passed up by Sumlin and Malzhan and Freeze.
