I've been in "business development/sales" for 5+ years now but prior to 4 months ago, I was managing more select clients and projects which didn't require me to keep a log of my activity for our CRM system.

My new role is more volume-based and I'm often emailing/talking to 20+ clients a day. I'll get done with the day, go home, and then attempt to input data into our CRM system and inevitably leave some information off.

I'm not screwing anything up, but I'd just like to clean up my process here. Is there an app or something available that I can create a virtual log of my activities to refresh my memory for when I enter information into the CRM system later?

Thanks.

There's probably a better app, but the "Driving Thoughts" app that was built by a TD poster might work for you.

You put an email address in it, hit one button, speak a few words and they are translated and emailed to you.

So after each contact with a client, hit the app, say something about the contact and viola, you have a few notes plus a date/time stamp from the email.

I know there is a service where you call them and they transcribe what you tell them into an email and send it back to you.

Are these face to face visits or phone calls? Either way, I don't see how you can't just train yourself to input the info as soon as you are done with each sales call........ Especially if it's only 20 per day.

I would never suggest waiting until the end of the day to update the things you did, because you will inevitably forget something you did, and I promise you it WILL bite you in the arse at some point.

I'm a sales manager and that's one of my biggest pet peeves.

Just start inputting everything into the CRM immediately and it will get easier, to the point that you won't even have to think about it.

Best of luck and happy selling to you!

I'm often not at my desk, or at a visit. And the process for entering in information from a visit takes about 15 minutes. Unfortunately, I don't often have the luxury of doing it immediately.

Talk to Siri after each visit and then erase your notes once you've entered them into the CRM system.

If you don't mind my asking, what are you selling? And what CRM system are you using?

Are you having to enter in brand new companies into the CRM when you make these calls? Just trying to figure out how it would take 15 minutes to input the information discussed on a sales call. I'm not trying to come off as abrasive, just want to understand the situation to see if I have any better suggestions.

If you have a laptop, data connection and access to your CRM remotely, can you enter in discovery information when you get back to the car?

Space out your appointments to allow for data entry?

Arg, he might be Android only. Sorry.

It's the coolest little tool I have... I use it for all kinds of stuff. Literally one touch, say a few words and forget about it.

There's got to be an iPhone equivalent.

ETA: two touches - one to launch the app, one to speak. It finishes and closes on it's own.
