wHAT'S LEFT TO PLAY FOR?
Posted by BoudreauxinGA on 11/12/13 at 1:25 pm01
I am looking at the standings and the schedule that remains for The Tigers (see below). I know what transpired Sat night was heart breaking to both fans and players alike. I hope both players and fans will regroup quickly. There is a lot left to play for in my mind. We live in a zero defect culture where only championships seem to matter, but they are never won overnight. There are recruits on the board who will be watching how LSU responds now to a mountian of adversity. The team could still potentially finish second in the West to the Tide if certain things occur including the Tigers finishing. Considering the OBJECTIVE preseason projections by the media and coaches of the SEC and what program will likely sit in the top slot, that would be a respectable position. Winning those games will assure a respectable challenge in the opponent for a mid tier bowl game. Practicing well and winning that game will give the fans and program sorely needed momentum heading into the crux of the recruiting season. Whether you like Miles or don't. Whether you accept that Saban and Bama are making history right now or not. Whether you are an optimist or a pessimist about the future of the program, THIS is the current situation, and I see a whole lot left to play for.
The standings and best scenario for LSU:
School W L For LSU to finish 2nd:
Alabama 6 0 Needs to win out
Auburn 5 1 Losses to GA & Bama
Texas A&M 4 2 Loss to LSU
LSU 3 3 Wins vs A&M and Ark
Ole Miss 3 3 Loss to MO or State
Miss State 1 4
Arkansas 0 6

It's just an opener against UMASS. We will be fine.

Beating A&M at this point would satisfy me. This season has hurt but we can end on a good note.

The A&M game is BIG! A 10-3 SEASON IS BIG! Come on Tigers, DO IT! You're good enough! Do you "want" it bad enough?

Recruiting exposure and trying to gain the momentum for next year by finishing strong. We did that in 2010 which set up an epic season in 2011.

It is nice to see that some people on here are willing to accept rebuilding as a part of the cycle and remain optimistic about what needs to be accomplished in such a year. I hope the Tigers are up to it.
