The gap is on the sidelines, not in talent.

Saban is three times better than Miles, that's where the disparity exist. Case in point. I can name many players from LSU that are playing well in the NFL. Not so many from Bama. Where is the development of players for Myles. The LSU coaches or their schemes hinder their players in college. Also, Chavis with those 215pd LB's is killing me. You can't stop Bama's rushing attack with smallish LB's. LSU's defensive coaches philosophies have to change in order to beat Bama.

I'm ok with smallish LBs, but they need to be fast. I just don't see speed or size here.

What's weird is that chavis's philosophy has worked pretty well against Bama. This is the first game we have let them put up real points.

It's a talent gap. This year

Where is the development of players by Saban?
Yes, there is a big gap in talent, go check ESPN recruiting classes in the last 4 years.

Saban is now 5-3 against Les Miles.

It's not like Saban has mopped the floor with Miles.

Saban coaches his players to fit his system. Outside that system they don't fare so well. Look at Milliner, Ro Mclain and Courtney Upshaw in the NFL,just for example. LSU's players seem to play better at the next level. The gap between LSU and Bama seems to get larger every year.

They gashed LSU running the football in 2012.

Kendell Beckwith might be the most talented player on the entire defense and he plays a handful of snaps. So embarrassing.

I don't blame game time coaching for the loss. The players just aren't as good and made bad mistakes.

If you want to blame coaching for not having the talent to beat Bama then that's fair, but 120 other teams can say the same thing.

true. It's the lack of talent to beat Ole Miss and UGA that hurts worse though.

The problem is that Saban is 3-0 in the last three games. I don't see Miles closing this gap!

The gap is in the talent on defense, bama is way superior in talent on that side of the ball. We have comparable skill players on offense, but our offensive line is not even close. Defense wins championships Les and Nick know that's the formula.

The gap is on both the sidelines and talent which directly goes back to the sidelines.

Les can't have it both ways. A great recruiter can never use the lack of talent excuse. Period. If he's so great, we'll have the talent to play well.

The fact is the coaching is not just mediocre but bad, especially at the DB and LBer positions. No excuse for every DB regressing that has been on the team for more than this season. No reason for ever LBer to regress. DL for the most part didn't progress outside of Hunter.

All leading back to the sidelines.

Do you know Les's record vs Ole Miss is great, one slip up with a bad tackling defense is no reason to jump off of a bridge. LSU will be back on top of the west with Les's at the helm.

LSU has lost or nearly lost to significantly less talented Ole Miss teams in 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2013. Let's say the 2008 Ole Miss team was pretty talented given our defensive woes and you still have 5 seasons with inexplicable games against Ole Miss.

Regular season head to head is 4-3. So that is 3x better?

Our raw talent is comparable across the board with the exception at LB.

Maybe one of the recruitniks can correct me but I think our DL:
Freak 5*
Ego, Hunter, Rasco, and Allen 4*

OL
LC 5*
Vadal, Turner, and Hawkins 4*
Porter 3*

Our raw talent is fine. They just aren't being coached/developed as well as Bama's. That's part of what the OP is asserting.

We set a god damn record for underclassmen drafted. If a NFL defense is made up primarily of rookies or inexperienced players, they're going to struggle. Period. Pros will struggle. fricking unbelievable.
