Why did CBS/refs ignore the hit on Landry?

All in on Sunday morning trying to think of as many things about the game that I can complain about, but one of my gripes seems kind of legit.
We all remember late in the game Loston being flagged & CBS replaying it about a billion times. Fair enough: Loston was dumb and could've hurt himself or the 'Bama WR.
But I'm sure everyone remembers earlier in the game when Mett threw into coverage to Landry. The CB breaks up the pass, but the safety came flying up....left his feet....and absolutely drilled Landry. I'm kind of surprised Jarvis was able to get up from the hit. It's one thing for the refs to blow a call; it happens. But CBS showed the replay multiple times & the only commentary had to do with the pass break-up, even when they ran it slow-mo & showed Jarvis' head snapping back on the hit.
File it under sour grapes or whatever, but that was complete bullshite.

I agree. I noticed that with these announcers. Was complete BS both from refs (as expected) and from announcers (not so much expected for me)

Verne was so pro-Bama he showed up dressed as an elephant. And Danielson ranting on and on about the Loston hit when the receiver clearly wasn't down was disgraceful. Targeting maybe, late hit, no.

I wish somebody would post video of this.

The announcers didn't say shite about that hit but got loud when AJ was "hit" out of bounds by Tahj Jones.
frick Gary and Verne

it was blatant BS as you expect from these hacks

Honestly we were lucky ours wasn't called 'targeting' which would have meant ejection. He played hard the rest of the game and losing him would have been bad news sooner in the game.

Loston?? You are kidding right??

I'm trying to find that play to show the Bama fans. Anyone remember exactly when it was?

I don't disagree, but let's be honest:
Loston's hit was boo'ed to hell & back by the crowd, so you knew the refs were gonna' hammer him. Hell, the receiver wasn't even called down by the time he hit him. Still, it was a dumb play.
But the hit on Landry was a more legitimate example of targeting and, AT THE VERY LEAST, should've drawn a flag.

I honestly can't remember, but it was (at the earliest) late in the first half, but I think it actually occurred in the second half. I also think it was a 3rd down play.

I'm pretty sure Loston's hit was retaliation/frustration in regards to those two plays, and frankly, I didn't mind his hit so much. It was bad, but at least he was sending a message that if you're gonna light up our WRs, we'll light yours up too.

On Loston's hit, the Bama wide receiver wasn't on the ground. If you arent on the ground, you arent down. He was on top of a defender, so it wasn't even illegal. Please spare me the suggestion that I am delusional until you watch the replay. Thanks.

The reciever was defenseless and was in grasp of another player. Loston led with his helmet and hit the wr in the helmet. Loston is one of the worst safety I a long time at LSU. The complete miss on the bad angle was a highlite.

Landry
Yep, that's the one. There's also an opposite angle that they showed (facing Landry). Thanks.

I'm tired of these old asses announcing the game. I'm tired of CBS coverage in general really. Isn't ESPN taking over the SEC next year? I thought I read that somewhere.

Because CBS stands for Celebrate Bama's Superiority!
