I don't think I've ever felt more for a football player than ZM. It's obvious he cares about this team. As someone in Athens who was in the midst of the talk when ZM decided to go to LSU (his family is from Oconee County), I heard from multiple sources that his thought process in picking LSU was that all they needed was a QB. Defense was there. RBs and WRs were there. Just needed a QB to complete the puzzle.

He wanted the UGA game badly, but since they lost that one, Bama became that much more important. I do not blame the guy for being frustrated. He came to LSU to win a championship, but will leave as simply a minor footnote in the history of LSU football. His marquee game? A 2012 loss to Bama, I guess.

Sucks that LSU's offensive ineptitude finally caught up with them in a major way. Sunshine pump all you want, but I think it's pretty fricking obvious that LSU's defensive underclassmen saw that nothing had changed in ZMs first year under center and said "screw this, I'm not going through another year of college ball for this" and bolted before Cameron could revamp the offense.

Because of that major exodus of young talent, the talent gap between LSU and Bama last night was pretty damn obvious.

A tip of the cap to ZM. The guy is a player and I wish LSU could have him back next season.

You hit the nail on the head. Likely exactly what happened.

He'll be missed. No doubt..

But looking ahead, I think we've got a solid qb taking his place.

We have no idea what kind of QB will take his place. Plus, NO experience and youth on Offense will be the next excuse along with a defense that still is soft in the middle.

If you're referring to guys like Mingo, Montgomery, etc., those guys were already in the program for four years. Four years.

There is no way we're having high draft picks as 5th year seniors.

Mingo and Reid are the only two I could understand coming out early. They both were projected high and paid their dues here. Montgomery, Simon and even Wing on the other hand could have used another year. They had no excuses other than they wanted to get paid.

Don't think many this year will be leaving early, except for ODB and Jarvis.

And yet a guy like C.J. Mosely returns for his senior year even after winning 2 national championships.

Loston was not getting drafted in 2013. That was still a terrible argument by that guy though.

mett is okay but he is a statue back there....he is the type of qb lsu ate for sinner in the past....dont get me wrong he is a great talent but its time to move forward.....if mett holds the ball longer than 3 seconds and the d line forces him to work the pocket frickery will ensue....
