Hunted bayou black. Lots of ducks. Mostly ring necks but
a few big ducks mixed in. Fairly encouraged given the bleakness of the aerial surveys and other reports. How are the ducks where y'all hunt?

ETA: 7 groups hunted, all limited but 1. Almost all ring necks , a few cans, redheads, and greys mixed in.

Not near as many ducks as we saw when we brushed blinds last weekend

We should have limited though, shooting was bad

Blind in front of us got 1 limit. Blind behind got 2 limits. We got 1 teal. We were set up in a bad spot and any birds coming to us got picked off before getting to us. Plus there wasn't a lot going on.

Tough time in Delacroix; decent many birds but my blind mates couldn't throw their guns in water. Had no teal on us but a decent many grays. Others blazed away at teal off lake Lery but some struggled to get even a single bird. We strapped 5 and also had one crip that lay "dead" for an hour only to fly off when went to retrieve.

Try again tomorrow

SIL and two others bagged there limits of Teal before 7am down in Venice.

My brother and one other didn't do to good. Brother bagged a Teal and a grey, the other guy bagged two greys. Brother told me there was a shite load of spoonbills that he let fly.

Oh, they were in Reggio.

Bagged 2 grays by myself in Biloxi on 3 total shots, and one was a cleanup shot on the water. Only 4th hunt ever in marsh so still trying to figure this stuff out. Loads of ducks in the area but they wouldn't even look at my spread.

How's the hunting in Dulac? My BIL'S family just leased 600 acres for cheap off of bayou sale, and there may me more available. Newer to duck hunting and never hunted pure saltwater marsh. Mostly brackish with trees and whatnot around.
