I own a 7mag, if I had to do it over again I would go 300 and never look back. Feel its a better round with more options.

I like my dad's 300 more than my 7 mag.

Ballistics are basically similar. I like short action rifles so I went 300WSM.

What are your plans with it, both would kill any North American game, but I would feel better with the 300 if brown bear were possible

If you are looking at the 300 win msg, you should really look at the 300 WSM (I will be buying a Tikka T3 in 300WSM soon)

7 Mag is really all you need unless you want to start talking about taking really long shots.

The same argument could be made for a 06. But, let be honest, couldn't a 30-30 do just fine too? Hell, 22 mag probably be most ethical.

I have a 7mag, but I didn't buy it. It was given to me by my dad. Either caliber will suit any animal in North America and the average hunter will probably never notice a difference.

More bullet choices with the .30 Cal but you should probably go with 44-100 Remington.
