It's their 10 year anniversary special. Michael Irvin saying it was one of the loudest, most awe-Inspiring moments he's seen in football.
Eisen, Mooch, and McGinnest all echoed the same sentiments. Pretty cool to see how well renowned that game is around the league and how it was so impactful on the game of football in general

Was just perusing NFLN's website for something to link but couldn't find anything. Actually the front runner in a fan vote of the best moment of the past 10 years, which is pretty cool.

Still my favorite game in the dome, even over the NFC championship. That atmosphere was unbelievable.

you cannot overstate the atmosphere that night. Every arse was in the seat before kickoff. Every person left their lungs on the field that first half. By far the loudest event the drivemans ever been TOO

no game before or since has ever came close to replicating the feeling in and around the dome.

Better than Tulane Stadium, too?

I got goosebumps watching on TV. I couldn't not begin to imagine what it would have been like to be in the stands.

What was surreal about 'THE PLAY' was that you could actually HEAR the punt being blocked, and then.....a decibel level I had not heard before or since, even louder than Hartley's FG to win the NFCCG.
I suspect that was because a lot of people, myself included, were too emotional to scream when the ball went through the uprights. Not ashamed to say there were a lot of onions cut in front of my eyes....

But Gleason's block - the waves of sound were not of this earth. The whole DAY AND NIGHT was insane - the likes of which we may never see again.

more drama added from Gleason's ALS development later but still, not too many individual plays get a statue

The only Tulane Stadium play that comes close was Dempsey's 63-yard last-second game-winning FG on Nov. 8, 1970. I was only 7 but I remember. (43 years ago tomorrow :)
But even if the stadium had been full for that kick, I still doubt it would surpass Gleason's punt block.
It may have come close to Hartley's FG though.
I was lucky enough to be at all 3 of those games.
[edit] And yet another game (or play, specifically) that comes close was Hebert's TD pass to Eric Martin to give the Saints an early 7-0 lead over the Vikings in their first-ever playoff game in January of '88. That was LOUD...

- And also: "Hakeem dropped the ball" - 2000.

I think for a lot of us, we almost expected the kick to be blocked or for Hartley to miss it. So the reaction was a mix of celebration, relief and satisfaction.

The blocked kick came out of no where. It was on the 4th play of the game so everyone was completely jacked up including the unbelieveable emotion of the day and situation.

Heard many times Mike Tireco, Jawarski, Young and all of the ESPN guys that were that night. They all said that's the loudest stadium any of them had ever heard in their life.

Probably my most cherished Ticket stub in my collection. And that includes the Saints Super Bowl one.

I have four complete tickets to the game. Ordered 4 tickets on Stubhub months before the game because it was obviously going to be special. A week before the game I still didn't have my tickets. Called stubhub and they somehow overnighter me print outs. Actual tickets ended up coming in the mail the day before. Kept those and used the print out. CSB

The Gleason block was so emotional. I took my dad as one of the four tickets I bought. Great moment for us

If you see a replay of that blocked punt, watch for Jimmy Mora's reaction. I swear, he's fighting back a huge grin. It was emotional for him even as the Falcons head coach due to the years he spent in New Orleans with his dad. Might be what got him fired, too.

I also was lucky enough to speak to Dave Dixon that day before the game (at Sam's). I told him he should be so proud at how important his dome turned out to be for the city. Cool moment for me.
