#Saints place LB Jonathan Vilma on injured reserve, officially ending his season and casting doubt on his long-term future.

Well that was fun while it lasted.

I'll post in this one. This is pretty sad. I thought he might be able to help us out a little. Oh well.

Sad, yes. But the guy hasn't played well since 2010. With Hawthorne having a good season, I don't really see him as anything but depth.

How ridiculous was that? So, we use our designated to return tag to allow him to come back for one game against his former team (for about 10 plays or so) and then IR him? Effectively, we put a guy who is not healthy enough to contribute on the field and took the chance of jeopardizing the team. Sad

Bye vilma thanks for being a huge distraction and costing us a roster spot the past 2 years.

the writing was on the wall like last week when payton spoke of vilma ... he said something to the effect of "he thought it was important to the organization that vilma have the Opportunity to return back to the club on the field."

he went out winning a superbowl, making million of dollars, being the bad guy that stood up to the dictator, and a vocal and respected leader for a team through the glory years. pretty damn good career to me.
