Just thought you guys would be interested for a little reading at work.

Mathews released their new 2014 bows yesterday and they have been receiving relentlessness bashing from the community. I think some of these guys on Archery talk are worse than the Rant.

Bashing is taking place mainly on Mathews Facebook page and some on Archerytalkdotcom.

Matt McPherson has a made a good living in the bow world.

What's the complaint with the new Matthews?

Ugly bow will probably kill just as efficiently as a pretty one

Mainly bs they haven't really changed the bows in a couple years. Rebranding. Several are looking for longer draws and I think Matthews only offers top of the line in a 30-31"

98% of people shouldn't need longer than that

ArcheryTalk has been a bastion of Mathews bashing for years.

Thanks for the heads up though-I had forgotten to check out the releases.

+1 as far as the bashing goes along with overall speed of the bow compared to everyone else.

I just thought it was funny how the people on AT and Facebook sound so much like the rant.

No problem. I'm planning to go shoot the Creed this weekend along with some others.

Just looked. No like the giant BH on the new Creed. If I were doing it today, I'd get the chick bow.

Uncle Brady, give me a shout brotha. It's been a while.

To stay on topic, I don't know much about bows but I always though Matthew's was the gold standard with Hoyt, Bowtech, PSE right behind them.

28" ATA and 321 IBO for the Creed XS.

I'm a little disappointed myself. I have no desire to own a bow with an ATA shorter than my draw length. My 2006 model SBXT has an IBO of 315. It would be hard for my to spend 1k and gain 6 FPS. With that said, I'll shoot it and then form a real opinion of the bow, but the specs don't leave me to believe that I'll be impressed.

The Chill R looks ok to me. 33 ATA, a hair over 6" of brace height, and an IBO in the 340s. The main complaint is that it's another version of the MR6, but the Chill's draw cycle/shootability was head and shoulders above the MR series bows and I'd imagine the same is true of the Chill R.

The fact is, bows aren't going to get much better than they are now without a radical change.

ETA I don't know why people are surprised. Outside of the Reezen and Helim Mathews has had the same pattern of releasing a bow and then releasing a shorter version the next year.

05 Switchback-06 SBXT
07 Drenalin-08 DXT
09 Reezen 7.0 and Reezen 6.5
10 Z7- 11 Z7 Extreme
12 Helim
13 Creed-14 Creed XS

Agreed. I sold my Hoyt a couple years ago so I have no bow at the moment, and am in the market for one.

Will do.

In my opinion they are. People expected some revolutionary bow from Mathews this year. They feel their bow development has become stagnate the past few years.

I'm curious to see how well the Bears sale now that their flagship bows have gotten close in price to the pro shop brands.

Elite Archery is making big gains. A lot of the Mathews die hards I know have switched to Elite.
