Last 5 losses - all of them because "D" couldn't stop opponent

Just realized that all of the losses by the Tigers last season and this one were highlighted by late 4th Q drives where the LSU defense failed to keep the opponent from scoring the winning points.

2012-13 Fla, Alabama, Clemson

2013-14 Georgia, Ole Miss

I am not saying the "D" was responsible for the losses, but in each case, if the "D" holds, LSU wins.

Unusual from a school with a tradition for great defense.

What do you think are the reasons why the defense has been an issue over the last two seasons? This year we have a young "D", but last year we had seasoned vets.

Ole Miss was because our offense gave them 3 extra possessions in the first, and took 3 from a turnover in the redzone.

Sure they lost on the last drive, but don't bail out our shitty offense putting up a goose egg in the first.

Oh and last year the offense scored 6 points against FLorida. 6.
That isn't on the defense.

In other words, make first downs, and don't go conservative or play "not to lose".

How can anyone possibly blame the defense for the Florida loss?

Last 4 but not last 5. The offense was horrible against Florida. Cant blame the defense for losing to an opponent who scored 14 points.

Most games are lost when you can't keep the other team from scoring More than you...

make up your damn mind...

either way, the D hasn't been able to stop anybody when they need to most.

It's one of the few, legitimate criticisms of John Chavis. He needs to rethink what he's doing on this because it ain't working.

it works in years where we have a good front 4 and a fast back 7.

We don't really have either this year.

The same defense that held Florida to 14 points and played their asses off all day?

That same one that held Johnny Football in check and was on the field and relied on the ENTIRE 2nd half in the aTm game?

The guys who dominated South Carolina's offense, really only allowing them to drive the field once?

They played awesome in the Alabama game too, besides 2 minutes of the game.

This year is a different story, but anyone who blames our defense for anything last year is not seeing things clearly. I know you said you aren't holding them responsible, but in almost all of those games they were the only reason we were in the games at the end.

Florida wasn't the D because it was worn out after the O couldn't keep the ball.

Prevent defense mode in all but one , ole Piss. It was just out schemed . We were defending the middle and they were playing the outside? Why didn't we adjust?

You need to get with the narrative, Les, couldn't stop the opponents.

That's usually how you lose football games. What's your point here?

If you think the front seven is going to play sound this weekend you need to put the pipe down.

Everyone needs to hope that everytime we get the ball we score some kind if points.

We lost to some very good teams, and Ole Miss, on final drives, sure...and yes, they all totally sucked balls, pissed me off, and I second guessed a ton of shite the coaches did because it's easy to do...but Chavis also had us in a position to win every game too. Chavis gives us a chance to win every game we play.

I honestly hope for that every time we're on offense.

The O deserves lots of blame for that but the D could've stopped them numerous times on that drive and didn't.

holding them to 27 should have been enough to win that game.

Our defense isn't great, but they did enough. The offense getting good egged in the first half killed us.
