A good friend of mine decided he wanted to have the short grip conversion done on a full size M&P a few months back. Bought the gun and had money ready to go for someone to do it. The only guy that he could find had a 6 month wait. Well this morning I got frisky and started cuttin. I think it turned out pretty good. What y'all think?

Not sure I understand what's going on here.

Not bad. I did something similar to my xd years ago. Uses the xd sc magazines and the full length with the sleeve around them. Put a Pearce extension on the short mags and it is great for cc.

I guess the only downside is you don't get the correct backstrap.

But for just sawing away it looks good.

We took a full size M&P and cut the grip to fit compact magazines. For CC so you have a full size site picture but it prints like a compact.

How did you get the palmswell to stay in place? Just some good ole fashion super glue?

Palm swell

When I shaped it around the plastic the grinding wheel I was using essentially melted the palm swell rubber into a shape that held the gun. Then we just stuck some super glue in the crevaces. Fully planned to have to do something different but that fricker was on there good.

I like to customize everything I have, but that's crazy to cut on the gun like that.

It hurts resell value, if you care about stuff like that. Some places won't buy them because they're wary of what else someone might have done to it. But there were plenty of people on the XD forums I used to post at that did a grip chop mod. This was before SA came out with the XD-M in a compact, with the 3.8 inch barrel and shorter grip.

Why not sell and get a M&Pc?

eta: I thought that was a M&P 45. My fault.

When I bought my P2000 they made a short grip version, P2000sk, but a full grip to me was more important than an inch longer barrel P30L. I understand printing, but my OWB Raven can be adjusted depending on situation.

I'm just gonna be honest, I don't like it. It looks weird.

Yeah to some extent I agree. The idea was from Bowie tactical concepts. The guy does great looking work with M&Ps. If you go look at the pictures on his website you can see the one he did. It has an rmr on it which completely doesn't make sense to me. This one will be setup with apex everything and some tfo's the owner picked out.
