Anyone seen "Taking Chance"?

I caught literally the last minute of it, and was intrigued by the way it ended. Looked it up online and looks like a very good movie...good in the sense that it is a very well done historical account of events.
Has it been discussed here? Has anyone seen it and care to give a review?

It's a very emotional movie. It's tough to watch at some parts, especially if are connected to the military in any way.
It kind of plays like a character study with a documentary feel. Kevin Bacon's character going thru changes as a Marine as he goes about learning the back story of the fallen soldier.
I don't recall an abundance of insight on the actual events related to Chance's death, but I haven't seen the movie in 3/4 years.

Every time I watch it I chop some onions so I've got an excuse as to why I'm crying like a baby

Had some sawdust blow into my eyes several times while watching it.

I started a thread on it when it first aired in February 2009. I've seen it a number of times since and have never made it through the movie without crying. It is one of the most moving films I have ever seen.

The movie is so damn realistic about how it really is to be an escort that the Fort Polk Casualty Assistance Office suggests potential escorts watch it to get an idea of what it's like.
I've seen it 4 or 5 times and still can't make it through the movie without tearing up. It's simply a powerful movie.

I think what got me the most was the caravan...when the camera pans out and you see all the cars...

When he gives the crucifix that the stewardess gave him on the plane to the family and says, -- I thought she was giving it to me, but she was giving it to you.
And when he was told at the airport that the Army Sargent was escorting his brother home.
WEAVE, there are just so many parts of that movie that bring me to tears.

Definitely.

Truth. I'm pretty unemotional, but that movie caused a reaction...

The first movie that I ever saw with Kevin bacon was "Animal House". He's played some great roles, including the despicable Nokes in "Sleepers". But I believe that his portrayal of of Col. Mike Strobl in "Taking Chance" was his finest and most moving performance.
Regardless of one's stance on the war, it's a movie that everyone should see.

If you have to attend Jury Duty in EBR you will get to watch it. I watched it there. A few other people I have talked with over the past year watched it there as well. Maybe that is why I have such a negative opinion of it!
