What a piece of garbage, thank goodness I only wasted a buck and some change on a redbox. I was all excited after I seen Oblivion and didn't listen to the M/TVB.

Luckily for me it was the movie on my flight back to Vegas from Houston last month, so I caught a good nap.

It's 2 hours of $cientology propaganda starring Jaden Smith and his constipated facial expression.

M. Night Shymalan. Enough said.

There's a reason why he wasn't part of their advertising strategy and most people had no clue he directed that POS.

Will Smith turns down Tarantino and takes a role in a Shyamalan movie?

So was there some sort of weird twist ending? If so, what was it (feel free to label spoilers for those uninterested in seeing any)..?

No, very predictable.

What was the deal with their accents, especially the kid? It made the movie that much worse.

I cringe every time I see the On Demand add for it.
"Son, do you know where we are?"
"No suh"

Jaden Face

He always has that look and it's so annoying.

Idk. I didn't think the movie was terrible but I did notice Jaden had like a british accent or something weird

I saw an interview about this movie when it first came out. It was said that since all the survivors from Earth had moved to another planet that all of the dialects and accents that were mixed together over the years eventually morphed into what we heard on the screen.

quote:

(According to an article about the movie...)Will and Jaden are speaking in kind of polyglot accent. They worked with a dialect coach to come up with an original accent, because the idea of the characters speaking with an American accent or a British accent one thousand years in the future, after you’ve left Earth would seem kind of preposterous.

"There’s actually different versions of the accent based on your position in society. So there is people lower down in the social order have kind of a working-class, a more guttural version of the accent. And Will’s character in the movie is of a higher order; an almost aristocratic level of society has a more refined version of the accent. So there is a tremendous detail that went into that."

I don't particularly care. It was a terrible and distracting choice. You think Shyamalan would have learned his lesson on weird pronunciations.

Can't really blame M. Night on this one. He was simply the working director, they could have gotten anyone to direct, and the movie would have turned out exactly the same. This was all Smith's Scientology vanity piece for his kid.

Edit: can't believe I typed out such a poor statement. Glad everyone got the point of it.

This.

Scorsese couldn't have polished this turd.

And the accents were horrifyingly distracting. Just a constant reminder that this movie could not have a decent scene.

It's almost like he's just in this for the money and doesn't even care about the artistic quality.
