Looking at getting a new bait caster and have it narrowed down to these two.

I have 3 Shimano Sahara spinning reels and have been impressed with them. I know Shimano gets a lot of love around here and rightfully so- they make a great product. This would be my first Shimano bait caster.

All my baitcasters throughout the years have been Abu's- my current one is an old 6500CL4 that has given me zero problems in the 10 or so years I have owned it.

Going to pair it with a Waterloo Salinity Medium power rod (I fish from a kayak, and these rods have a shortened butt section which I like- very comfortable grip too)

i'd stay away from abu's products if fishing from a yack. they seem to get too much water into them. ie, not sealed up as well as others.

I started using the Lew's reals lately. So far I have been impressed.

I bought two Lew's tournament mg reels about a year ago. One works perfectly and the other one has some drag issue, it works some cast and other times i can't get it to tighten or loosen.
My new chronarch has landed multiple 22"-27" reds without missing a step. I also have a chronarch just handed down to me that's at least 10yrs old and it's just as smooth as my new one.

You really can't go wrong either way. Both are very solid.

I have a revo inshore. Go with the chronarch. I have two curados that are 7-8 years old, and they are much better reels than my 2 year old revo inshore.

I have a revo as well.

Great reel but I only bought it because I got a stupid deal on it.

Cronarch is a nice reel. But it's hard to hear the curado

Go with the Chronarch. I have several chronarchs and I had one Orra inshore. Now I know the Orra is not the Revo but it's still $150 reel and after 7 or 8 fishings the anti reverse went out in it. I ended up taking it back and getting a new curado and picked up 4 chronarchs.

Thanks, guys.

Figured with the corrosion resistance on the Abu Inshore, it would be the better bet for fishing from a kayak.

I'm going to go take another look at the Chronarch E7

I kayak and boat fish with a Chronarch e7 and it gets the job done flawlessly. I have it spooled with 30# Powerpro.

What is the OB's opinion on the Shimano Core100 MG? Worth the $ over the Chronarch, or have i reached the point of diminishing returns?

If i jump to that price range, Academy also has a Daiwa Zillion Type R at the same price. Any experiences with the Zillions?
