Been searching for that unicorn since last Christmas (when I got my last bottle)...I gave up and just got one off Bourbon Exchange over the summer.

I figure the only way it'll hit the shelf is if a bottle was mistakenly left at the distributor last year, but with everyone's Pappy obsession, maybe a couple will slip through the cracks. Only place I found the JPS17 was at Cork & Bottle, but I think it's changed ownership.

I'll be looking too, love that stuff.

My Pops is going to attempt to get my a bottle of 15 today. His local store starts their pappy sale at 12:01. If there is a line out the door though I told him don't worry about it.

Talked to a family member last night who works for a distribution company and said all of the PVW and Antique Collection stuff is next to impossible to get their hands on and all are kept under special lock and key by the company higher ups, as to not magically disappear. So, apparently it's impossible for the reps to even get a bottle for themselves or friends if desired. Said some of their accounts had to find PVW at retailers in order to have a bottle to sell because they couldn't get it for them.

They had that many bottles? My luck I'd be 40th in line and they only had 5 to begin with.

My Dad said they had about 60 bottles. They got there 2 hours before they started selling. They made it in and got a bottle within 15 minutes of them starting the sale. The actual sale of Van Winkle products only lasted about 30 minutes before they were out. He said a ton of people got their too late and didnt get anything

I have a friend that is a distributor in Lexington. KY still has not shipped, they are expecting Friday. He usually picks me up a bottle before it hits the shelf. FWIW I paid $145 for 20yo last May.

Pappy used to ship 2-3 times a year (at least in KY) once in the fall as usual and once around Derby at least. They got in trouble for holding back bottles for shipping after the initial shipment. It's back to once a year.

What caused the big bourbon boom over the past few years? I think it was 2011, I walked into Church Hills in BR and bought a bottle of Pappy 20 for about $130 for a Christmas present. It seems like since then it has been impossible to find, and if you can the prices are through the roof. The same seems to go for the Eagle Rare 17, Stagg etc

Have him grab a few more for us

I wish they did it more than once a year like in the past...sucks having to wait all year. Now Gmrkr5 has to wait till the end of the year

So what your saying is there will be a big flood of bottles on the bx in the next couple days? I sure hope the price comes down

My best guess? There has been a tremendous boom in all things southern as far as food and drink. That has helped raise the prestige of ancillary things like pimento cheese and bourbon. New Yorkers and the food media will move on to Mexico soon, and Mezcal will be the sought after beverage.
