When he retires does he have a chance? MLB has never had a unamious hall of famer. Tom Seaver was the closest receiving 98.84% of votes, Ripken received 98.53%.

ETA: do you think he deserves 100% of votes?

Somebody will refrain from voting for him to make a statement.

There have been plenty of guys better than Jeter who should've been unanimous inductees but weren't. So no. There will always be some voter who doesn't vote for a player no matter how great he was.

I would think that Rivera, Pedro Martinez, Griffey, and Randy Johnson would have better chances. I'm sure I'm missing some names too.

If guys like ripken, seaver, ryan, and so on weren't first ballot, then Jeter shouldnt be. However, all of those guys listed deserved it. It is so dumb that these Liberal Arts college graduates think they are so above the sport that they don't vote in these guys.

ETA: Maddux has the best chance in recent years to be first ballot next year

They were first-ballot... they just weren't unanimous.

Which is retarded for the sake of being retarded.

Well, if Babe Ruth wasn't unanimous, then Derek Jeter shouldn't be either! Okay, so voters being stupid back then gives the ones now the right to be stupid? Dumb.

You don't think there is at least ONE Yankee hater voter who would do it out of spite?

Greg maddux, Rivera, etc deserves the honor more than jeter... Not sure why you singled out jeter.

Jeter won't be

Rivera will if anyone. Along with his playing career, a lot of media attention has been focusing on how good of a person he actually is this past year or so. That goes a long way for voters I think

Mo Rivera should be unanimous. He's the Jerry Rice of closers.

Because I stumbled upon articles from 2011 and 2012 that made arguments that he should be

Mo has no chance because of the fact he is a closer. Alot of people think closers are overrated. He won't even sniff unanimous, not saying i agree at all. Maddux has the best chance. Over 300 wins, over 3,000 strikeouts, and 4 consecutive cy youngs. Unreal
