Is the Pawn Stars shop the only pawn shop without a FFL?

It is scripted. 95% of those people are actors that they give an item to then have them act the sale

Had an ex Mrs ICS go to Vegas years ago. She was walking down the street by the shop and the pulled her aside and asked her if she wanted to be on the show. She gathered more info and basically they give you something that's already theirs to "sell" them.

It's difficult to judge Rick and the Old Man, because I don't know how tall they are.

Assuming both of them are 5'9" or so, I would say the Old Man has to be about 180 and Rick about 200. Corey was at least 350 at his peak, and Chumlee is well over 300 pounds, so their average is around 260, unless I am underestimating Rick and and the Old Man's weight.

So, yeah - they're hitting multiple buffets per day.

Okay - that's not fair - they jack people around about stuff made out of gold, but they offer spot price for gold, just like everybody else.

(I did though.)

Don't go to the fair this weekend and try to guess the fat man's weight.

I have never noticed them acting weird about firearms purchases.

I watch this show all the time, as it's good filler TV, and Rick always seems to enjoy firearms in general. One of the reasons I think he/they're the rare TV personality that's on our side of the fence.

I'm actually pretty good at guessing weight in person - it's more of a challenge from images (cameras distort, AND I don't know the height).

Am I completely off base with Rick and the Old Man? Do they benefit that much from standing next to 300+ lardasses like Chumlee and Big Hoss?

To answer the OP, they have no FFL. They probably think of themselves more than a pawn shop. It is strange though why they would pass up that type of business. And Rick is at least 230.

On a past episode rick said he could only deal in guns that were considered antiques so I'm assuming he has a CCR license. Probably to much hassle to get an FFL in Nevada.

You okay buddy?

There was a news story about a guy in his 30's that got stabbed by his step son yesterday here in Shreveport. Same first name as you...

I concur.

For a pawn brokerage to not have an FFL seems somewhat strange. I must assume it has something to do with the background checks on all the employees (*cough* Chumlee and Big Hoss *cough*) that might knock them out of FFL territory. It's also possible that the Harrisons don't want the hassle of doing the NCIS paperwork and background checks required to sell firearms with an FFL.

1. It's a C&R License. It stands for Curios and Relics, not Creedence Clearwater Revival.

2. A C&R License does not give an individual permission to DEAL in firearms. It is for individuals to enhance their personal collection only.

3. Guns that are considered antiques do not require any license to buy/sell/trade. That is why those are the only ones he can deal in if he does not have his FFL.
