Always wanted one, wife just gave the approval, and now I'm about to start getting serious. Would want an Unlimited Rubicon. Would buying used be the best route or get a new "unabused" with the options I want?

Does anyone on this board own an Unlimited Rubicon, and if so, what do you think? I trust this board a hell of alot more than cars.com reviews

I've been a mountain biker for a long time and I just converted her as well as introducing her to camping/backpacking. Painted the picture of taking the jeep out with the top and doors off to our campsite and she was sold

I was surprised as well though..she randomly texted me today saying she thinks the jeep would be "cool."

Cool vehicle. It "may" leak to some extent in a heavy rain no matter how hard you/your dealer tries. Still worth it IMO.

Wranglers tend to hold their value well, so you're almost better off just going get a new one or a low mileage CPO.

When I was shopping 3 years ago, 2002 Wranglers w/ 50,000+ miles were still going for $12,000 give or take.

Love mine. About that time of the year to put my hard top back on. I do so during hunting season. I pull out the back seat, put on the hard top and it carries all my gear. 2 door JK

I like them, couple friends have them. One does leak but thats the only negative I know of. Really cool vehicles.

no leaks here and mine is an 07. Hard top no leaks. Soft top no leaks. little drippage when opening the door when the soft top is on. But no leaks.
Been wet a few times though driving in the rain with everything off

A wise old man told me once, as we passed a fellow working under the hood of a Jeep, "Son, if you are gonna have a Jeep you better make sure you like working on vehicles."

What ever you buy make sure you set aside lots of $$ for the mods. Tires, lifts, etc are not cheap.

Very true. I put a Chevy motor in my old CJ so at least parts were easy to get and somewhat cheaper.

The new JKs are no Toyotas but they are the best Jeep ever made despite what the CJ and TJ owners say.

Not a big Jeep fan, respect the capability they have, kind of indifferent towards them but the JK8 is

I also forgot about the Jeep AEV Brute Double Cab

I dont have a rubi, but I built it much better than a rubi.

Are you looking to mod it in the future? if so, what direction do you plan to go with it? these are things you should think of, with new vs used.
also whats your purchase budget and if you plan to mod, whats that budget?
