Figured I'd come to the ob to ask this question. My work attire is business casual(polo and dress pants) but I am in and out of the car all day. When it's raining this can become very uncomfortable. Are there any pants out in the market that are water resistant yet still acceptable to wear to work? Tia

Why not get a frogg togg gear and slip it over the other closes as needed. It is very light weight...

there a few brands that make dress pants for bike commuters that should be water resistant

might be too hipsterish though

I got some water proof pants/jacket at the army surplus store in Keithville years ago that work great. I guess showing up in camo would be frowned upon. Some frog toggs would work too, or you could just scotch guard the hell out of your clothes.

Seems like the reviews, on this board, don't speak very highly of them anyway.

What about a trenchcoat style rain jacket?

Something long enough to cover at least most of your pants to keep them from getting wet

Check out some waterproof golf pants. Most of them will be lighter and built like slacks.

"Under Armour- Cold Gear Elements Storm" pants are about $85 and come in a few different colors. They are windproof and water resistant.

You might also find some at Stein Mart on Line Ave. When you walk in, turn left, and they have a large golf attire section in the corner. I bet they have some water resistant pants for a decent price.

How often of a problem is it? Can't you just use an umbrella and stay dry those 2 days per month when it rains???

Might look into these. I only need them on rainy days, and around here ain't that often.

What about the Dockers stain proof ones? I remember the commercial pouring a cup of something on them and it running right off the side

These look like they might work:

They are water resistant and could pass for normal pants. As Salmon indicated, they may be a little on the hipster side.

this may just be a pet peeve of mine but i hate seeing "waterproof" and "water resistant" together

they are completely different

a water resistant soft shell jacket is not at all like a waterproof rain jacket or ski jacket, same for gloves, same for pants, same for shoes

so you either want water resistant or waterproof and the depends on the use, if just for walking to and from car in the rain, water resistant may be fine, if you'll be outside in the rain for anything more than a short period then you want water proof

i've been doing a lot of research on gear for an upcoming trek and sometimes they aren't descriptive enough, that's why i'm bitching
