Any experience with this rifle? What's your opinion?

Obsolete gun and caliber. Only buy if you just really want a lever gun in that caliber for personal reasons. BTW, I have one.

Never had a problem with mine. Shot my first deer with one. For the price, it's a good lever action rifle.

loves mine! only deer on my wall killed with it. End up taking it more times than not because it is short, light, and easier to handle in the woods

Neither the gun nor the ammo is obsolete. If that could be intelligently supported then why do companies still make parts and new ammo designs? I have one and it's a great rifle and adding a XS Sights lever rail is a great upgrade. Ammo is always available too and the latest Hornady ammo really pushes the range out to where it's competitive with .308 Win for deer in most circumstances.

People make nonsensical purchases all the time. The manufacturer doesn't care. Both are obsolete.

It is my favorite rifle. Any place where I am shooting less than 150yds, I take my 336

I use mine several times a year. Great gun and caliber.

Mine is a hand me down from my Granddad. He killed the only deer he ever shot with it.

The Marlin 336 is a great and nostalgic gun. Nothing wrong with it or the 30-30 if you are shooting 100-150 yds and no more...

You need an explanation or haven't you kept up with the times? 160gr FTX Hornady's are nothing like 150gr or 170gr soft points.

I bought my son the youth (336Y) Marlin last year. In case you didn't know, Remington now makes the Marlin and some of the Marlin purist hate that fact. Early on Remington put out some questionable rifles quality wise. Canted/twisted front sites, scratches on metal, and poor wood to metal fit. Seems that the quality is better now - though maybe still not as good as Marlin did it. If you buy a new one, just look it over good and you should be ok and if they have more than one in stock compare them.
