I have seen several conversations about him joining the team as a coach. So, Saturday I paid close attention as he discussed LSU during his segments during the game. My conclusion on Mawae is that he is awesome! He diagnosed and broke down the weaknesses in LSU's defense with precision and calling offensive runs as they were in progress. Could you imagine his Oline with Cam Cameron calling the plays?

I remember an SI players poll back in the day or something of that sort asking players which current players would make great coaches and he was way up there. Seemed to have tons of respect from his peers

Yeah, he is down to earth, from here, an expert at OL, a hof'er.....I think he could/would be a monster recruiter for us.

Doesn't get much better than that. I wanna know who is going to be running core6 in January too. Hopefully mawae stay in town for something on staff now,

He has a home in Baton Rouge, so I would imagine he's staying in Louisiana for a while. Most of his family is still in Leesville.

His family is all here. Kids in school here and I would be surprised if he left anytime soon.

Didn't he build a church on his property on Old Perkins? I know he had a big arse house over there

Make him a special assistant, particularly in charge of coaching centers.

Him coaching porter, pocic (for now) and then KJ Malone ... I really think it will make waves with O-line recruits.

Guy knows his football and seems like he would be an excellent teacher and definitely a role model

Take this for whats worth.....a former coach of one of our DLineman told me this Saturday that Mawae has been at practice. He told me that Mawae was an assistant coach but like I told him he's not listed as one nor is he on the sidelines.

kevin was a fantastic player, but that honor goes to Faneca.

We also would have accepted Aldolsek, another correct answer.

They talked about this with him on the cst broadcast. Per ncaa rules, hes not allowed to "coach" players during the season, but he still comes in and watches film during the week and gives the coaches his input. I wouldnt be surprised to see him on staff in the next few years.

He was head of the nfl players association for a while too. I'd imagine his PR would work wonders in recruiting.

He would be a slam dunk hire, period. He could start to cherry pick the best of the best IMO.
