If James Wan did Stephen King's "It"...

The book was completely tremendous. I don't want him to do a remake of the movie, I want him to do the book, but this time, not have it suck.
Make it four hours long, at least. Put in the uncomfortable bits. Have Samuel L. Jackson, or Keith David (preferably Keith David as the narrating voice of Mike).
"It" is incredibly lame. I don't care if it scared you when you were a child. It was supposed to scare children, and it did. "It" is fundamentally an adult book, with adult themes, ideas and an adult plot. It's amazing. It's incredible. It focuses on whatever fears we have. It, as a creature, knew what we were afraid of, and became that thing. I think James Wan would get that. I think he'd create a real, unapologetic Derry. I think he'd attack the stereotypes, go after the people, make us feel the tragedy and create a real, lasting horror film that didn't suck, like the first adaptation did.
"It", if done properly and given the correct length to fully explain the story, could be one of the best horror films ever made.
Give it to James Wan, Stephen. He won't let you down. Give the real fans what they really want.

You're dumb, I've watched that movie exactly once and it scared the shite out of me and I remember every scene. I think that was the goal and it succeeded

Hell yea I'd like to see him tackle It. Don't think you'd get a 4 hour movie but he'd do the book justice.

That may say something positive about the movie, and the book. The book was so great that a terrible adaptation was still seen as good, but I can assure you that the book was infinitely better.

Put even average actors in and let them just tell the story, and "It" becomes an absolutely phenomenal film. I honestly think (and I'm not exaggerating, I'm an amateur actor and I've been nominated for a few minor awards) that if I were able to direct a film adaptation of the book using nothing but people I know, and a decent budget, we could do much better than the existing film.
That's not wild praise of me (I know, personally, probably 20 actors that absolutely kick my arse in talent), it's just that the source material is so rich and so full of life that I think a real adaption would be immensely successful.

Should be made into a mini-series.

In order for him to do it justice he'd have to make 2 movies

Maybe. I'd be in favor of making a mixed movie of the kids and adults up to the middle of the story, and immediately picking it up there. I'm not a fan of two movies, but if it was necessary, I'd be in favor.
I just want to see the real story told as best as it possibly can be.

The book was absolutely fantastic. Easily one of the best books I've ever read. The book goes into a lot of stuff that the movie doesn't.... I'm just not sure how/if a movie could really capture some of those elements (the origin of It, the turtle, etc.)

Never read the book but the first part of IT on VHS was awesome. The second part was lame and I recognized that even as a child. If the ending of the book really is a giant spider I don't know if any movie could salvage that.

Will someone please recommend the best way to obtain an audiobook. I'm going to get into some Stephen King, and "It" and "The Stand" are a couple I'm interested in. My commute to work is an hour total, so I'm trying out some audiobooks.
TIA

I thought James Wan said he was finished with the horror genre. A remake of "It" is a great idea and I'm not a huge fan of films being remade.

Would watch.
He's the king of horror right now, even though he has a couple of duds. He's the only current director to really get horror and to give us classic versions of suspense in our films.

He needs to stay away from Fast and Furious sequels and stick to directing horror films (if he returns to that genre).

I've said it before :
HBO needs to start a King mini series.
Do his big books one season st a time:
It
The Stand
The Talisman
Should be the first three

Legally or illegally? Audible is a good legal way.

I would so be onboard with that.

James Wan is extremely talented at directing the horror genre.
For one of The Conjuring DVD extras, he explains his method for scaring the audience so much. He goes on to say that it is not so much about the blood/gore. It is the tension "building up" and the suspense for that particular oncoming jump. I have to agree.

And this is the why I thought the entire movie was BS. Talk about a ridiculous payoff.

King is a great storyteller but his endings normally leave you expecting more. I believe The Shining was his best ending.
