Did you fight Ozma?
Damn, I never even knew that I existed. This thread has really made me want to go out and but a PS1.

Well, considering the game is entirely translated, I can't see there being much of a delay. There's just a very small team working on it.
I hope so
I'm close to just saying screw it and playing the ps2 version

didn't Ozma have 1,000,000 hp or something ridiculous like that? That's what was listed in the strategy guide anyway.

It's HP is 55,535 but is basically a OHK boss. I've never attempted it myself but that's because I never finished the treasure hunt stuff.

I've never beat him. This play through, I'm going to grind my arse off and attempt to beat him.

I think I may have fought it once just for the hell of it. I lost.

So going in at 99 huh? BTW what does your main party look like?

I beat Ozma, but it's not as bad if you take the time to catch enough frogs, steal enough shite, and kill enough dragons. Having moves that will hit for 9999 damage makes it a whole lot easier.

I don't have a definite best party yet. When I had to split up at the Desert Palace, my main party had Zidane, Amarant, Quina, and Freya. I'm trying to get Dagger and Eiko to learn all the summons they can so I use them a lot as well.

going to play ff4 and 5 soon and looking for opinions as to which versions I should play
I am kind of against playing the DS remake of 4 unless you guys think its superior (looks funny to me)
and should i play ff5 for the snes/psx or iOS ?

The DS remake of 4 is the best version. The 3D models seem a little goofy, but they wanted to keep the scale that the sprites had.

A few pages back I posted a link to a site to play some old rpgs. Well today I found another one a LOT better. It has FFII(IV) FF3(VI) and FFV on SNES. It's free and all you need is a UN. Been playing a little bit of BoFII on it today. Try it out if you like. Or if you can pull yourself away from the new next gens

Huge RPG fan here. I think I've played em all which has resulted in me being less naturally athletic. I blame video games.
Anyway, just a random collection of thoughts:
- One of my favorite songs/moments is in Chrono Trigger when you're talking to the karaoke robot dude. I can still whistle the tune today.
- Loved seeing recurring characters in FF games like Cid and Mog the Muggle. Chocobos are the tits.
- FF13 had a very interesting fighting strategy but the story line never appealed to me. And dammit, those fights were long and difficult. You really had to pick your battles right.
- Did not like FF10.
- FF9 was ok.
- Really liked 2, 3, 7, 8.
- Earthbound producers were on crack

FFIV and VI were originally released as 2 and 3 on the SNES in the US only.

Confession time. I've never beaten VII.
Disc 2 had a problem with it where it would freeze every time you entered a battle. So I have finished Disc 1 multiple times but have never progressed further.
I've actually got a "new" VII sitting on my game shelf I just haven't taken the time to play it.

Not that we're mad. we're just disappointed.
Seriously though you should work on that.
