Can you imagine Pete Richardson coaching Grambling’s football team?

In the black and gold? Not in the blue and gold?

It could happen.

A prominent Grambling alumni group has reached out to Richardson about becoming the school’s next head football coach. And Richardson is considering the opportunity, although he has yet to interview for the job or discuss the position with the athletic director or coaching search committee.

“It would be difficult,” Richardson said. “Especially since I accomplished so much at the other school. To go into a rival situation, it would be a little difficult.”

I knew SU shouldn't of gotten rid of Pete back then.

Please don't copy and paste so much. 2-3 paragraphs is more than enough Please edit.

Pete is done but that would be interesting. At the very least it'd spice up the rivalry.

This was my point about the kids whining & even exaggerating the conditions of their facilities at Grambling(no health hazards according to Dept. Of Health Inspectors).

I was thinking Pete Richardson was perhaps too old ,but thinking about Bill Snyder(who is older) at K-State makes me think this could perhaps work.

Old retired football coach with nothing much to do perhaps , familiar with the State & can delegate responsibility a bit more.

Interesting development.

I've seen what Pete worked with and it wasn't as bad as the Grambling stuff. The part about Owens Hall is misleading. It was the Athletic Dept, and while totally crappy for that, it wasn't meant for the team to be in.

I won't argue with as I don't have intimate knowledge of both of the facilities recent condition (although I know Grambling's were fairly nice for 1-AA when the place was built in 1981). Fallen into disrepair over 30 years & serious budgetary cuts later, however.

My only point was that Pete Richardson is familiar with Grambling facilities & it doesn't seem that all is hopeless.

Like Bill Snyder I believe Richardson can have a nice round up to his career by bringing back a little respectability to a once proud & very Highly respected program.

He's a retired old man with nothing to lose. What would be the mistake since his relationship with Southern is already sour?

According to the article Richardson has already declined admission to SU HOF.

If the opportunity is right, Pete would go for it. From what I've heard he's still mad at Southern for not interviewing him when he turned in an application after Stump was fired
