If the retail numbers in late November come out strong, then I think it definitely runs it up there. I think that's gonna be key to getting there.

No chance.

Sequestration and Govt. Shutdown have doomed the economy. Or so I'm told.

I have a few guys I went to B-school with that work for Bernstein Wealth Mgmt. They collectively will boldly say that the Dow will top 18K before Obama leaves office and be over 20K before the decade ends.

I kind of believe that. Hyperinflation is going to be a bitch.

Is Dow weighted for number of shares per Dow stock in portfolio (like that of the S&P 500)?

With that answer, I will flip ON switch to my future prediction 8-ball and get back to you.

No. The Dow is price weighted and is not an average. It's a cumaltive over a divisor.

That's why Google and Apple can't join the Dow, they'd skew it too much.

Economy has nothing to do with it. As long as the money keeps flowing and interest rates are so low that investors are chasing yield, the indices will continue to rise. We may even hit 16000 by the first of dec.

It'll sink to 9,000 in a month or two once Israel attacks Iran.

Depends on the economy. Stocks aren't particularly expensive, but we've got to start seeing some top-line growth.

ha.

I was being completely sarcastic.

It was the end of the work day for me and just blowing off some steam.

16k seems reasonable within a few months. Wonder if that could prove to be a natural correction point?

given that McEDees doesn't even have a true dollar menu, what does 16,000 really mean anyway.

Inflation baby, the market better go up!

Somewhat timely, I would agree. Will it close, though?
