It is just stupid to spend that much money on a new stadium when you have a serviceable one. What a waste of resources. Atlanta is moving in the right direction, and there is a LOT that the city could do with that money (and yes, I realize the city isn't footing the whole bill).

Investing money into something isn't stupid. This is Arthur Blank's idea for bringing in tons of money in the future for the city of Atlanta; which is loaded to begin with.

Unless people know what's going on with the city of Atlanta nowadays, I don't think anyone can say it's a stupid idea and a waste of money. I dont live in Atlanta, but I also am not blind enough to realize that ATL is a different beast than it was 20 years ago.

With that said, I really dislike this stadium. It's way too corporate for my taste

How many Super Bowls has Atlanta hosted?

Has the Georgia Dome ever had a corporate sponsor, much less a car brand?

Buckhead was a much better place to party in the early - mid 90's. It's a lot different now.

I'm sure they can keep the lights on as well. Looks good.

My one gripe about this is the lighting issue if the hole is open during the day. Will look awkward on tv in the same way Texas Stadium looked. Camera men constantly had to change the contrast and brightness during the game.

Looks amazing to me and I'm neither a Saints nor a Falcons fan. Might want to considering giving a little more room in the corners for soccer.

I thought the same thing. Obviously there will be a bottom line, and Atlanta will either benefit from this or not. Hinging that risk on a football stadium these days involves a lot of not learning vicariously through others' mistakes.

I have been in the Georgia Dome several times (most recently at the Peach Bowl) and it is fine (not great, but not awful).

I don't know where to begin.

How is it a waste of resources? What do you suggest the city should have spent the money on? keep in mind this is coming from a hotel tax where the money can only be used on things that boost tourism.

You cant say "they should have used the money on education", that isn't possible.

I'm just glad it will most likely bring a MLS team with it.

Oh, ok. So the Superdome has a sponsor. big fricking deal. I walk into the stadium, and it has soul to it. It has stories behind it.

This new Atlanta stadium is just like Jerry World. It's all corporate, and absolutely no soul to it. I won't think of football when I go to it.

Nobody likes the Superdome except for Saints fans. It's not exactly the Rose Bowl or Fenway like they for some reason make it out to be.
