total bro. probably lose out in a the finals of someone's regional. glenn as our number 2? we will have to outscore opponents to win a lot of games this year with only one true stud on the staff, and i just dont see us doing that having to replace so much in our lineup.

You obviously don't know much about the new pitchers we have. I remember Nola stepping up nicely as a freshman a few years ago.

Love this. Successful leaders excel at this. And those who can assess and adapt quicker, whether it's in the middle of games or after seasons, almost always win often and win big.

Take away those couple of bad outings early and Cody had a great season last year. If he continues to develop his pitches and locate, he will be a solid Saturday or Sunday guy once again.

Newman has plenty of experience and he will get a strong look as well.

That said, I could see Poche taking Saturdays due to a higher ceiling, and I'd take my shots with Glenn in a rubber match when needed.

One of a few who didn't come back with the velocity the coaches expected, not that he lost any. But most guys have the biggest mph jump from year 1 to year 2 because they've done a full cycle of the arm program.

He may be there out of necessity (catcher) rather than because he's someone you can't bench. If that makes sense.

Let's step back and think about this for a moment....

We are in October, and we have been discussing the outlook for the baseball team for a solid week or more. You think they are doing this on a UCLA board? North Carolina board?

It sure beats the heck out of discussing our football team's current issues.

i hear you. guess im still caught up in the stoney brook series where he looked to be a real bright spot and a guy we could rely on in the future. the more i think of it, he didnt really do much in limited AB's last season. i have heard that newman has been great so far but is sidelined at the moment with an arm strain, not sure of the exact injury.

He was nails as a pinch hitter. He had a few game changing hits in last year's post-season.

Yeah he was. He'd get couple big pinch hits and coach would start him and he'd go 0 for 4. Hard to find that balance.

He's an aggressive hitter with excellent bat control. He hardly strikes out, but he hardly walks either. He puts balls in play, but still bats .280. Works a pitcher, but a double play risk every time someone's on first. That's his on-the-field "issue". I can't speak for his work ethic or anything else like that that might have kept him off the field.

Did Raph have 14 times the ABs with runners on first and less than 2 out? Maybe I can save face?

Impossible to know how many PAs with a guy on 1st and <2 outs. I'm just messing.

I'm ready to gtfo of here and get the weekend started. I have a bottle of crown waiting for me to start pregaming. I'll be in the N.O. Arena tonight if any of you are looking for me
