When they fix the website, their real problems will begin

George Will opines on the healthcare fiasc...er, glitch.

quote:

"It is breaking and they're echoing what the president said with his body language and his action when he said the employer mandate is going to be delayed. From then on, we're all operating on the same premise, which is that the Affordable Care Act cannot be implemented as written. So now we're just arguing about the details. There's no great principle involved here.

So far as I can tell, what the administration is trying to do is sell something online and it can't do it. Get Jeff Bezos. He's bought the Washington Post, let him buy the Department of Health and Human Services. He knows how to do this. The difference is that people go to Amazon.com, a, voluntarily and, b, because they know what they want to buy. People go to healthcare.gov because they're under government coercion and they're confronted with something that poll after poll indicates they don't want to buy. So the Bezos model, I'm afraid, won't work.

When they fix the website, their real problems will begin. They're going to look back on the last few weeks as the good old days. When people hack their way through the thicket of difficulties and get to the real choices that Obamacare offers, particularly the 2.7 million young people they're counting on to sign up and the young people say, 'this is awfully expensive for something I don't want,' and recoil, That is the difficulties today are actually keeping people from seeing the bad choice they're going to have to make once they get onto the site".

They'd better bow down and do what Dear Leader asks of them so that he'll look good, which is most important.

Even if they get the 7 million people to register and purchase a plan how are they going to make sure they keep paying their premiums every month?

What do they think is going to happen when people are faced with putting food on the table and paying mortgages vs paying their premiums.

Even if every American signed up and purchased a plan it would not make it a success. It is keeping the cash coming in that will make it a success or failure.

Didn't Bernie Madoff go to jail for something like this?

Yea, Hannity was saying the same thing on his show today. Even suggested that the website problems might be a fail by design to delay realization of the sticker shock.

I read somewhere that most young people voted for our dear leader. All I can say is "you reap what you sow"! Suck it.

The premiums aren't affordable. Middle class is going to be broken, and impoverished wont understand the tax credit, because they never file.

This is going to work well.

If you cancel the policy they probably report you to the gang of new IRS agents funded by Obamacare

How many times have we heard a variation of the phrase already

"I just wanted people to get cheap healthcare...I didn't realize I would be the one paying for it."

Funny how the party of "personal responsibility" all of a sudden thinks that buying health insurance is a "bad choice".

Actually, the opposite, Madoff took the cash and provided nothing, here the people want health care but won't want to pay the cash for the service they get anyway.

No.

Its the removal of all choice with legally required one size fits all plans that is the problem.

I personally which I could have kept using my high deductible plan with my HSA contributions.

Instead I'm pissing away money that I don't need because I need to subsidize others.

well when true choice is removed, bad choices increase. my healthcare choice was perfectly rational for my situation, but i'm too stupid to make my own healthcare decisions and my old plan is now illegal

See what are you complaining about? I don't get it Slow.. you said you were too stupid to take care of yourself, why wouldn't you want somebody to take care of you

It's like you know you can't make important decisions for yourself but you're mad that somebody will make them for you? Do you have PMS? You're not thinking clearly apparently and you're back and forth like a bad argument

Keep defending it. Can you talk with Mary Landrieu, and tell her to not delay it?

You are funny.
