Maybe germans, I looked back a few pages and didn't see it.

Even the mighty gumps are having trouble keeping fans in the seats the whole game.

It's happening everywhere, but some of our fans live in a bubble.

Probably has been pointed out but for those old enough to remember...there was no comparison between the game live and watching it on a 19" picture tube set. Now, a 60" HiDef flat screen, where you can get a hotdog that doesn't cost 8 frigging dollars. This trend will continue unabated.

Do you really blame them for wanting to leave all the time?

They play nobody

So they bitch when the schedule is too tough and leave when it is not tough?

Expanding the schedule did nothing but add crap teams for additional home games. Increased ticket sales but really is a downer for fan interest.

I thought it kept the same number of non-conference games but added an in-conference game. In years past conferences were much smaller. At one point didn't the ACC have just 8 teams?

Actually the SEC schedule years ago was 6 games. In 1980, LSU played 5 non conference games BUT...the non conference games were Florida St, Kansas St, Colorado, Rice and Tulane. Out of those non conference, only Tulane was a true rent a win.

Expanding the SEC schedule and more than doubling the bowl games has led o the problem. Used to be a team wasn't guaranteed a bowl game with two losses and out of conference wins against decent teams were necessary not only to get respect, but to get noticed since only good match ups made it to TV.

Expanding the schedule, guaranteeing everyone with a winning (or even) record plays post season and showing almost ever game on TV gives little incentive to play decent OOC competition.

It's pretty easy to schedule 4 gimmes, win two conference games out of 8 and play in a bowl game.

Could you imagine LSU fans if they played 3 tough out of conference games in addition to the SEC schedule? Somebody would shoot Alleva.

No kidding. In those days it was necessary though if you wanted to get on TV or go to a bowl. Now, many believe the SEC schedule is tough enough. Looking back as some of those old schedules, the out of conference scheduling was impressive.

But it's okay to leave before your contract is over but don't leave the game before it's over...got it!

The difference is Bama fans will respond in a positive way and take what Saban said to heart.
LSU fans concider it an insult and an invasion of their privacy if someone tells them to stay the whole game.

But now the bama faithful will think that Saban will run off the field during the game to confront them. So they will be scared that Sabam will not like them anymore and stay. Good move by R2D2.

Society as a whole has a 20 second attention span. Baseball is dying, you gotta keep us entertained with action or we leave to play with our smart phones and laptops. Bring on the gladiators.
