since my hopes and dreams of signing pekovic got dashed, i'm officially starting the greg monroe train!! detroit will not resign him at all. they have charlie v to play alongside andre and a couple of reserves. now here's their issue. they have five pg's and KCP as the only sg on the roster and he is 3rd on that depth chart. im not contract/trade/salary savvy so someone help me with this. pelicans and pistons do a deal. pistons sign and trade greg/? for ego/stiemsma. both teams fill positions and its an out of conf trade so no multi-game repercussions. ego will make them good enough for the playoffs in the east. and i honestly believe greg would make us a top 5 in the west.

You can start there for some thoughts.

I can get behind this if Monroe can hit a mid-range shot and play solid pick and roll defense.
I haven't seen enough of him to know if he can do either.

Monroe has been asked to develop his midrange game to clear some space for Drummond. We'll see how that progresses.

I was hoping this thread was about dell saying "pek was plan b after reke". I do often wonder why we didn't try to sign a C instead of reke... Been on board the monroe train

our situation doesnt really need greg to have face the rim a lot. we have davis and smiht. what we dont have is a wrestler!! davis clearing space for greg>>>>greg doing it for andre. but it would be far more efficient in nola. and when greg eventually gets better shot...all the better!

Monroe is one hell of a post passer though. Even without a mid-range shot, he would fit well with AD because the latter can move all over the place to be a factor with and without the ball.

AD, greg, ryno and smiht would have to be the best nba rotation in a long time.

With D12 in Houston, Detroit not renewing Monroe, and the Cavs picking up Bynum I think Omer Asik (age 27), Greg Monroe (age 23), and Anderson Varejao (age 31) are all real possibilities for the Pelicans and I think each can work really well next to AD23

I'm sure dealing Dell has something up his sleeve

They're going to pick him up

You don't let 23 y/o 16/10 guys walk

They're just fishing for someone to overbid on a trade

They wouldn't want Gordon. No one wants Gordon.

And we don't have any other tradeable assets except Anderson, who won't get us Monroe. So it sounds nice and all, but it's not happening

how many of you think we would've still picked rivers if drummond was available.

I always had a feeling no matter who fell, we were going rivers every single time with the 10th pick.

I know a couple people close the Monroe family and they are telling me that Monroe wants to come home. TIFWIW. We may be able to get him for a lesser price as long as Detroit doesn't match.
