The Thunder could have amnestied Perkins and they still wouldn't have saved enough money to pay for Harden, and that was before the new CBA came into effect, which was a really tricky deal for the Thunder and KD.

KD signs the max extension, then the lockout occurs, then the new CBA is agreed upon, then KD's pre-CBA extension (which was for less money) gets thrown out because he makes more money under the new CBA's max deal. And the league paid the difference, which is kind of bullshite. Regardless, the Thunder couldn't pay Harden before Durant's deal was upped, and they certainly weren't paying him after.

Sucks to be small market.

Wasn't it more to do with Ibaka not Perkins?

I said it could be either of them.

You are surprised that Harden is #4? The only player you can come close to making an argument for is Westbrook but Harden IMO is better.

Last season, Harden became the fourth different player in NBA history to average at least 25 points, 5.5 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game at the age of 23 or younger. The only younger players to do so are LeBron James, Michael Jordan and Oscar Robertson.

Yeah, that is pretty good.

Rockets stacked.

Chris Paul is great but i just don't think he's a top 3 overall player.

I don't even think he is a top 3 PG, but that's just me.

Not many players in the league I'd take over a healthy Dirk

It's amazing how much better the mavs are when he's healthy. As much as I hate dwight, he would have been perfect along side dirk.

The mavs need a capable PG and a very good defensive center. As much as I hate dwight, he would have been perfect for this team

It's a current ranking. His 5 championships don't mean dick in this analysis. Try to pay attention.

Did Harden learn how to play defense magically over the summer?

Only explanation for him being considered the 4th best basketball player in the world by ESPN.

He's still one of the better players in the league. You should pay a little more attention.

Does "one of the better players in the league" mean he's top 10? You should be a little more specific.

I actually think it's a pretty good list. I'd go with

1. Lebron
2. Durant
3. Paul
4. Westbrook
5. Rose
6. Harden
7. Dwight
8. Parker
9. Melo
10. Curry

PG is ridiculously strong when you have four guys in the top 10 and still have Irving, Williams, Rondo, Wall, Lawson, Holiday, Nash, Lilliard, etc.

Melo is one of the top 4 or 5 players in the game.

Carmelo played like a top 5 guy last year. Usually he's more of a top 10 player.

Numbers 1 and 2 aren't debatable, but everything else is. There's no clear cut #3 as of now.

Thunder fricked UP the Harden deal.
