Emphasis on wrong timeout...

Les called a timeout while we were lined up in punt formation with 13:50 left in the game, facing a 4th and 10 at midfield. Why in the hell is he taking a timeout here? Give up the damn 5 yards.
That would have left us with 2 timeouts, which would have assured at least 45 seconds on the clock, assuming Les would not have used both to ice the kicker.

Word was they were going to fake the punt there, but had the wrong formation called....had to burn a timeout because of that

Can't disagree with that at all. Zero reason to call a TO there unless they had a fake on and wanted to not do it

They were definitely going to fake IMO, but OM had a safe coverage call, so they called a timeout to get out of it.

Why? Fake worked for UF against us. Only problem was it was very predictable because I saw it coming even though I had been drinking in the GRove all day.

Why did he have to call a timeout? Take the 5 yard delay of game - it was punt, for crying out loud.

Well a fake there is just dumb. Hell let Mett throw to the end zone, it woulda been like a punt if intercepted. Fake punt there is just not a good idea

whether ole miss knew it or not was irrelevant. Still take the penalty. Just don't snap the ball. How hard is that?

And if that pass is incomplete, OM get the ball from the same line of scrimmage as they would have from the fake punt.

We did punt though... Why cant they just I dunno.. Call off the fake at the line and Punt the damn ball??? If not take the delay. They cant do a check with me on a punt?

No coach ever does. I'm not really sure why. Seems to be an unwritten rule of some sort.

Correct from what I saw om sidelines, but still why burn the damn time out? Would have left us with 2 or at the end with 40 seconds and a timeout.

Maybe it is just me, but I thought it was pretty obvious that punt was going to be a fake, and he called a timeout cause he knew Ole Miss knew it too.

Again, I don't know, but almost all coaches don't take the loss of yards.

I defend Les all the time but I think the idea of callin a fake there is not smart. Ole miss obviously knew as well and I'd prefer to keep the TO and just punt

Who in their right mind changes the personel like that when trying to sell a fake?
Seems like we do this shite alot. Change our formations to a run formation but then put in a RB that we almost always use for pass protection etc.
If you change your entire punt team the punt return team that saw them 3 times prior is certainly likely to notice the guy on the other side now has a different number.
Les must be horrific at playing poker.
