Consumer Reports: ‘Stay Away From HealthCare.gov’

quote:

Consumer Reports, which publishes reviews of consumer products and services, advised its readers to avoid the federal health-care exchange “for at least another month if you can.” “Hopefully that will be long enough for its software vendors to clean up the mess they’ve made,” the magazine said, having tested the site themselves over the course of the past three weeks.

Apparently, the software and website issues will be resolved before December. My prediction is that most people will start to view things differently if that does happen. They'll actually find out what coverage works or doesn't work for them.

Problem is, December 15th is the application cut off for Jan 1 qualification.

The thing is a mess.

HHS has promised to recruit the “best and brightest” to fix some of the remaining issues with the federal exchange.

HHS is right on top of this, they are now going to find some people that can fix this shit, after they have gone a couple of hundred million over budget on this load of crap no bid contract.

I've read about some of the technical issues, I'm an IT pro, not sure at all that what they currently have is fixable. If it is at all possible, it looks like a complete do over is in order. Laymen think that as far as software if concerned, anything is possible, but there are many constraints in any software.

This ought to be interesting, if you thought there was too much finger pointing over the budget deal, you haven't seen anything yet if the software is a bust. The sunshine pumpers are trying to wish away a tornado.

I see no winners if if this fails.

Yet another of candidate Obama's lies. Still cranking out no bids, the list of things he verbally raped Bush over and he still does is growing everyday.

Any truth the contract was given to a company that is under fire from the Canadian govt for failure to provide adequate service?

What little I've read makes it sound like the server end of this stuff is a total cluster. Queries directed to tables stored on separate servers for something as basic as security questions etc.

A lot of it sounds like a rebuild job vs a retool job. Not like that impacts the average user, just keep the same graphics and 98% of its users won't have a clue. But the budget on this thing if they do a rebuild in a month and a half is going to be wayyyy over any estimate they may have claimed.

Here is the TRUTH. Obama has until Thanksgiving to get this operating because Dec 15 is deadline to have coverage for Jan 1, 2014. Now if these deadlines are missed one of 2 things will happen. The deadline for enrolling will be extended or the individual mandate will be pushed back a year.

Another interesting aspect is if enough people have not enrolled insurance premiums will go up on those who already picked a plan. Yea, isn't that nice? The premium and coverage in contingent on the number of healthy enrollment applicants.

If the deadline is extended, what happens to the millions of previously insured Americans who have now been informed they've been kicked off their policies?
