The one in Jerryworld weighs like 6,000T or something, Relient will have one soon too. Don't know if SD can handle this type load! Any other engineers out there with knowledge?
*Each of the two center-hung sideline displays is 160 feet wide and 72 feet tall. The boards stretch from one 20-yard line to the other 20-yard line. Each of the two screens weighs 1.2 million pounds. The screen area for each sideline display board is 11,393 square feet. The video source is 1080p HDTV. The pixel pitch is 20mm. Power consumption is 635 kilowatts.

OK,was a bit off apparently 2,400,000lbs = 1200T
Still pretty darn heavy!

Do you folks not recall the gondola in the Superdome with the video screens. Dave Dixon designed that feature in.

I read this as "Saints are looking to add a Center...".

I got really happy for a moment. Granted it's awesome news but I was really hoping de la Puente was being replaced.

didn't the Raiders punter hit the old gondola before the Super Bowl against the Eagles and it caused it to be raised before the game?

As much as I always wants to beat the cowboys in everything, but have you been to the cowboys stadium? I did a few years back and had pretty good seats. Just about everyone was looking up the whole time. You couldn't help it. I personally don't want that for the Dome so I really hope it's not that big.

ETA: not saying I'm not in favor of it. But I just don't want jerry world size or bigger

The Superdome was actually the first stadium to have a center-hung video screen. Hell, it was the first stadium to have instant replay.

The Superdome was so ahead of its time. It's one of the few stadiums from that era that is still being used -- AND it's perfectly fine.

Ray Guy hit it in the Pro Bowl. When he returned for Super Bowl years later he demonstrated that it should be raised by hitting it 4 times in practice. It was subsequently raised substantially.

I agree, we went to the LSU/Oregon game and that screen is way to big. I would be in favor of a slightly smaller screen.

Exactly I would love a screen for replays etc. Just don't want it to be the main attention grabber and actually watching the players on the field playing second fiddle.

Does anybody really think it would be as big as the one in Cowboys stadium? That thing cost $40 million in 2009. I can't see the Saints or the state dropping that kind of money for it.

I took a tour of the Dome when I was a kid and they said that they did the multi-colored seat thing so the stadium would appear full on TV even when it wasn't...

Guess they didn't anticipate HD, 2006, or Super Bowl 44.

Or the fact that pastel blue, red, and green aren't colors that many people would where to a Saints game.

We recall but would like to know weight of that gondola; if any one knows what the SD roof can hold? 1200T is pretty hefty just don't know if they anticipated that load. I do know there is a tension ring around perimeter holds the thing together that was future type design for the time.

yes there is still multi colored seats which look like shite. whoever decided that was a good idea is an idiot. should have went all black or gold.

they did that because it was supposed to look like more people in the dome when we were shite and no one went to the games....looks like people filling the seats...now why people would be wearing all those crazy colors im not sure lol

The seats in the terrace and loge end zone need to be changed. They feel yucky.

They were changed out between the 92 and the '93 season.

Upgrade the terrace bathrooms/ concessions too.

I feel bad for the people in front of me, my legs are always near their head with the lack of room.

Been told to sit down a few times when we are 2 rows from the top
