Am I the only one who thinks the defense played well enough for us to win? The gameplan was good enough to win? And that Mettenberger's first half of not checking down cost us the game?

You are the only one. This loss doesn't fall on Mett shoulders alone

Pretty much

But the 3rd and 15 and the 3rd and 9 on the last drive are on the defense

Each interception had at least one receiver wide open. Take those 3 interceptions away from Ole Miss and I dont see how they win. If nothing else in the game changes (ie defense/game plan) I think its enough to have won it for us. Im ok with being the only one, just curious why no one else thinks it.

You are not alone. I just want to know where the hell was Jarvis Landry in the 1st half.

Mett has the Brees/Graham syndrome with ODB.

I think it was the second end zone pick that was thrown, we had 2 guys wide open on the right side underneath. It wasnt a 3rd down toss, so there was no reason to try and force that throw.

where was jeramy hill? I think Cam tried was too impatient and it cost us. Also it seems every last drive by opponents going back to last year our defense chokes.

How many times did Ole Miss punt? Twice?

540+ yards of offense fpr the Rebels.

Stellar defense, eh?

The turnovers killed LSU's offense, but every one of them were deep in Ole Miss territory. Ole Miss drove the ball all game on the Tigers after the first few series of the game.

Ole Miss was 6 for 8 on third down conversions in the second half.

The defense did its part in the loss.

LSU's $4.5 million coach already admitted that he didn't have his team ready to play. Just so you know!

Never said they were stellar, but they kept us in the game and offered us a chance to win. We dont need to shut everyone out and hold them all under 100 yards to win.

So what if they convert 6 of 8 if we outscore and win the second half? It was the first half that cost us the game. As for Miles saying his team wasnt prepared, Im pretty sure we all know he's going to defend his players and take the blame for them. He's not going to go out and call players out for a bad game, he's not that coach.

Seems to me to be a recurring theme with Ole Les!Can anyone say 1/9. Although I think this loss is worse (although less effect on LSU perception) with the difference in talent from Alabama and Ole Miss.

This loss was on par with the 2010 arkansas game which knocked us out of a bcs bowl game, for me.

Thats the problem with half the arse hats on this site. They don't know. I bet when they (negatigers) heard/read CLM say this they rushed on here to blame Les.

@cajunduby: lol

Anyone expecting this young defense to stop a decent offense is just in denial at this point. They have a bright future, and Im stoked to see what they look like next year, but its not here yet and we shouldnt be counting on defense to win as it has the last few years. I really think we lost that game in the first half, by not checking down and avoiding the interceptions. If we just put 7 up in the first half we win.
