The problem is n=2, ZM to Landry/OBJ for boom or bust or run Hill right in middle. I bet given the talent if you increase 2 to 3 LSU should able to pickup first downs at will.

What is it going to take for our coaches to run the ball out of the shotgun with 4 wide. Ole Miss did this once every 3 plays and they torched us on it. Not to mention their D-line blows compared to ours. Its just fricking physics. The more people there are in a small area, the harder its going to be to break a decent run. Granted they have a much better MLB in Nkemdiche but our Online could have mauled their D-line. Only reason the run sucked was because there were 16-17 guys in the box on every run.... And to counter that, how many times were we going to let them run that same fricking play on us until we brought a safety up or something

I thought with Cam we were going to see all kinds of Offense. Maybe they are saving the "Secret Playbook" for the Gumps???

Unfortunately, our football coaches are not smart enough to be physicists.

I've never agreed with the mentality of moving into tight formations once a team enters the red zone. Keep them spread... move players away from the point of attack.

As for the LSU offense, it's not much different under Cameron than it has been all these years under Les. We still can't run screens, we don't do zone read runs, we don't run counter runs, don't do much run trapping, we don't run crossing patterns... it's all still very simple, easy to predict stuff with the goal of overpowering an opponent. Les Miles is still stuck in 1960's Big Ten mode.

Agree, the only difference is ZM, Landry, and OBJ are one year older.

Les and Cameron's idea of creative offense is play action passing from I formations. Even high schoolers are asked to grasp more complexities.

Could it be that a lot of defensive problems are also related to the fact that offense is very simple and predictable and they go against this offense in practice regularly, therefore, when they face more dynamic offenses defense is not ready?

There might be some merit to that.

eh, i wouldn't say that. we've run more vanilla offenses than this and still shut teams like this down defensively. we're just not the same defensively that we have been due to attrition. Everyone was just not prepared for how much we'd struggle replacing 10 starters, even though everyone outside of LSU predicted we'd struggle.

You don't practice for your own offense. It is called a scout offense and they try and mimic your opponent. Have you ever played football at any level?

But last year's defense was not that good either. They were even worse vs Ole Miss in Tiger Stadium, couldn't stop 4th and 16 vs Clemson, last minute vs Bama wit a lot on the line. Even the last 2 minutes vs SC and A&M defense didn't look good but we won those two games.

Maybe not for a couple of times before a game but that doesn't happen in Spring and Fall practices.
