Apologies if this has already been asked:
Does anyone think that the Russians blew their own satellite up on purpose, knowing that the US was installing new spy technology, and that the ensuing chain reaction would take it out during installation?
The idea that Ryan's device is for spying was alluded to early in the film. It was an old satellite that the Russians blew up...
Was this intentional?

I saw it today. The premise didn't make much sense. I liked Clooney's character and Bullock came off as whiny the entire time.
Special effects were great though so I wasn't disappointed. 98% though? I dunno. Without IMAX I probably would think it was rotten

Weren't they working on the Hubble telescope? I don't think there is any spy equipment there.

It could've been worse, but some of the stuff she did (i.e. keying the Russian and Chinese symbols/buttons in the system, hopping the different pods, etc.) was somewhat unrealistic.

Bullock was fine, some people just need something to complain about....... As far as the OP goes, i think Putin was skeet shooting and hit Mars

I don't know if you're looking into it more than was intended. Seemed like they just had an idea and went with it. Not underlying things. Just my opinion.

Of course she was, but it's cool as frick to shite on her as an actress these days. Same with Clooney.
Saw the movie over the weekend and it was awesome. Sure, a couple things were farfetched, but it's a movie and the things they did made sense.
Definitely one of the most gorgeous movies I've ever seen in theaters...it truly is made to be seen in 3D (and IMAX if possible).
