Right or wrong, when things go wrong on the field, the onus will always fall on the shoulders of our head coach.

The reasons for this are many, but after 9 years at LSU, Miles has established a legacy of mental blunders and poor preparation. At least this time he is blaming the right person:

“This one is on me. I take it,” Miles said. “I can tell you that I did a poor job on preparing this football team for playing this game. There is a way I could have prepared this team to put them in a better position emotionally and prepare them to play in the kind of stadium that they played in tonight.”

For the most part, Miles doesn't have the respect of the national media.

In general, he doesn't have the respect of the majority of college football fans outside of the SEC.

I live on the west coast and wear purple and gold whenever I can. Folks come up to me all the time and want to talk football. Many use the word "powerhouse" to describe LSU football, but most mention Les Miles within the first 30 seconds of the conversation. Usually smirks and eye-rolls are accompanied with the mention of his name. The mental blunders are usually mentioned, but most people cannot understand how a program that has so much talent in the NFL only has one National Championship under Les.

They ask when he will move on or when he'll be replaced and most when I tell them that he recently got a contract extension and a raise. They laugh even harder when I tell them he makes $4M a year. I mean, 9 years in and there is no fear of losing him to the NFL - that should tell you something right there.

Last night's game was a complete joke if we are to be considered a football "powerhouse". It was shite-show of failure across the board. Les Miles is not an elite coach. He has a stacked deck in terms of players year in and year out, but lacks the ability to get the best out of them. He looks completely lost and defeated on the sideline and he doesn't seem to have the want anymore.

Perhaps he never had it to begin with.
