As a proud alumnus of Furman University this will be a fun week. Yes I will be there!
The only loss LSU will experience on Saturday is a # of redshirts that are used to keep the winning margin under 100.
Background on Furman:
- located in Greenville, SC
- 2,600 students
- known as "Country Club of the South". If you have ever seen the campus you would know why!
- Extremely conservative student body
- Tuition is $53,000 per year
- Famous alumni: Herman Lay (potato chip guy)a building on campus is the Herman W Lay Physical Activities Center, Sam Wyche (NFL coach), Keith Lockhart (Boston Pops conductor), Amy Grant (never graduated), Mark Sanford (former Gov of SC and serial skirt chaser), Clint Dempsey (Team USA soccer),a bunch of golfers: Brad Faxon, Dottie Pepper, Beth Daniel and Betsy King, Cindi Davis (President of Nike golf)
- Mascot is paladin = a couragious knight of great virtue
- Colors: purple and white
- Best sports: golf, tennis and soccer
- Football highlights
* 1982 won at USCe
* 1983 won at Georgia Tech
* 1984 & 85 won at NC State
* 1AA runnerup in 1985
* 1AA champion in 1988
Every year they play 1 big BCS school, usually Clemson, USCe, UGA, NC State or someone in the region.
Fans will be very friendly and don't expect much if any smack talk. They will be polite and will be a little shocked at the alcohol consumption.
Favorite cheer is: "FU one time, FU two times, FU three times, FU all the time" please don't take a taunt!
All I can say is "Go cash that check Paladins!"
