We've been with Whitney for many years. It used to be wonderful, but all of that has changed since it's been bought out. Who out there has a great bank and would recommend it?

2 bank system only way to go...
Charles Schwab for easy national and online banking (all ATMs are free)
And a local or regional so you can develop a relationship.

I use Regions for checking. Other than that, its fair game for my savings, cds, etc... I like having a brick and mortar bank for my checking account since that money I want direct access to at all times. And it doesn't hurt that Regions exists in pretty much 95% of the towns/cities I travel through in a year. For a savings account, I aim for the best rate and where I can have access to my cash within 0-2 days.

If you're open to CU's, I have nothing bad to say about neighbors
Not many branches but you get free atms and you can do photo deposits on your phone

I saw a billboard yesterday in mobile yesterday for navigator credit union. They were advertising 5.5% on checking. May be something to look into.

I'm pretty low maintenance when it comes to banking, so as long as you don't charge me international exchange fees, I'm a pretty happy guy. Tack on mobile check deposit and I'm likely not going anywhere, at least for my checking needs.

I switched from Whitney to Charles Schwab when I moved to Houston and have had no problems.

Thanks guys for the suggestions! This definitely gives me a great place to start. I'm going to start looking into a couple of these.
Does anyone know anything about Gulf Coast Bank & Trust? Yay/Nays?
