I remember when this movie came out in the early 2000's, it got a consensus 0 stars. I've seen it a few times, and though it isn't a great movie by any means, it has some tastelessly hilarious parts, and it has its own very different sense of humor compared to other comedies. Well, I looked it up on Rotten Tomatoes, and this particular review from one Roger Ebert had me in stitches:

quote:

It's been leading up to this all spring. When David Spade got buried in crap in "Joe Dirt," and when three supermodels got buried in crap in "Head Over Heels," and when human organs fell from a hot-air balloon in "Monkeybone" and were eaten by dogs, and when David Arquette rolled around in dog crap and a gangster had his testicles bitten off in "See Spot Run," and when a testicle was eaten in "Tomcats," well, somehow the handwriting was on the wall. There had to be a movie like "Freddy Got Fingered" coming along.

This movie doesn't scrape the bottom of the barrel. This movie isn't the bottom of the barrel. This movie isn't below the bottom of the barrel. This movie doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence with barrels.

How many shitty movies did Ebert sit through? Think about it. That's incredible patience and love of movies to go through all those hours watching absolute garbage

Us but you have to stay awake and then write a review. Add in boring movies etc, and that job v could be a chore.

Yes, I remember Freddy Got Fingered. And I remember 15 or 16 year old me finding it hilarious.

Although my standards for humor were quite low at the time, much like most 15 year olds.

Saw him hosting some "live" talk show or something on some obscure network a couple weeks ago. Watched for about 5 minutes

I saw it a long time ago. Tom Green was annoying, but Rip Torn made me laugh.

I know he has a podcast and he's doing some stand-up comedy also.

Well said. The Roger Ebert review amplifies the movie to me. It's funny in a bad movie way, but it's actually got some legitimate funny parts too.

Never found Tom Green funny. He just did things for shock value -- wasn't much comedy there.
