More Obamacare Issues: Insurance companies not getting data correctly

quote:

Insurers say the federal health-care marketplace is generating flawed data that is straining their ability to handle even the trickle of enrollees who have gotten through so far, in a sign that technological problems extend further than the website traffic and software issues already identified.

Emerging errors include duplicate enrollments, spouses reported as children, missing data fields and suspect eligibility determinations, say executives at more than a dozen health plans. Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Nebraska said it had to hire temporary workers to contact new customers directly to resolve inaccuracies in submissions. Medical Mutual of Ohio said one customer had successfully signed up for three of its plans.

The flaws could do lasting damage to the law if customers are deterred from signing up or mistakenly believe they have obtained coverage.

So what happens if someone signs up via the exchange, thinks they have coverage and then are fined? or better yet, has a medical prob and it isn't covered?

I know the excuse from the pro-obamacare people will be "Well, they would know if they had coverage prior to that, they would know something is up if they didn't receive paperwork...."

For some, yes, they would suspect something... But I'd bet that a good percentage of people signing up aren't the brightest.

Pretty much would expect the response to be "tough shit" since the Administration already lied about premium costs and being able to keep your plan

This could be a great political gift for republicans. Any pushing back of parts of Obama care are actually losses IMO for republicans because it is giving him a life raft. It's best to let it fail fully so people feel the pain and then rescue them with a better plan.

Yup, the exact reason why they were fricking morons to bring it up in the debt/cr fight.

Let it stand and fail

Just heard Obamacare is actually creating jobs...

BlueCross of Nebraska has had to hire temp workers in order to deal with the clusterfrick of information being sent over from the exchange. They are manually having to call people trying to signup in order to get the correct info
