Would you be in favor of seeing a 3-8 episode reunion of the two, or of both?

I'd love to see how things play out more and more with those characters, mainly with Frasier. Cheers ended in a very pleasing way, and, if anything, Frasier killed my interest in hearing more about the Cheers gang.

I'd be fascinated if they did something like Arrested Development, where they allow the real passage of time (for Frasier, it would be ten years) and show the struggles, triumphs and general nonsense that the characters have gotten themselves into.

On the other hand, I think both shows ended in such a way that it would probably be best to let the original canon lie, and not stir things up and ruin or create things for the fans to be upset or excited about.

What do you think?

blasphemous. Cheers was great, but they'd all be retired by now(sans Woody).

I don't really see the point. The characters were mostly adults set in their ways. Sam would still own the bar, Norm would still be an accountant/beer drinker, Cliff a mailman, Frasier a psychiatrist, etc. etc. Like Seinfeld it was just a daily life sitcom without much progression. Great for their time but a reunion would just be the same and arguably less entertaining given you might not have the same writers, social norms, nuances, etc.

I think it would be great if you put the crew in a nursing home where hilarity is certain to ensue.

Agree. Cheers was a tad before my time so I'm not really familiar with it, but I've seen quite a bit of Frasier. I just think it ended too completely (unlike AD as you referenced) to bring it back.

I wouldn't mind one of those retrospective specials where they interview the actors and reminisce over the past, but I have zero desire to see new episodes from either series.

Each one ended kind of perfectly in their own right. The last shots of Sam closing up the bar or Frasier saying "wish me luck" as the plane landed in Chicago are great cappers to those shows.

Also with Cheers you'd end up with Kirstie Alley looking like she does now and that would ruin Rebecca.

Yeah, that threw me for a loop when it happened but it's cool that he's following his heart and there's a bit of the unknown. Plus, KG probably looks pretty old by now and Martin would have to be in a home or something.

Daphne on the other hand looks better than she did towards the end of the series. Good doctors.

ETA: Roz too

Principal cast are all mid-60s - not quite nursing home, but definitely at retirement age.

We know Cliff retired. That was an episode of Frasier when he just happens to run into him at the airport in Boston when his invite to the retirement party was lost.
