So I've done a handful of the standard ones - always hit the locals (voodoo, and typically a day or two of jazz plus all the others you'd expect) and try to travel for 1 each year. Not a huge trip - for example austin city limits this year as a Thursday to Monday, hangout a couple years ago

Looking for a few ideas for next year - either drivable from New Orleans or an easy flight, music taste is pretty wide reaching but generally in the rock/folk/blues is where I'm most comfortable

Who should I be keeping an eye out for next year?

I like Wakarusa and Wanee during the summer.

I really want to get up to New York for mountain jam as well but haven't yet

I've got some friends who do Hardly Strictly Bluegrass every fall and absolutely love it.

ACL's my favorite. It's just so darn convenient.

I've been thinking HSB for a few years - it's one of those I've been debating logistics on (hotel vs staying with family 45mins away) vs something closer/easier to attend

ACL was really great for a destination one - cheap flights, hotel worked out great (just outside downtown and cheaaaap), festival seemed well run, good city, great food. For value and general enjoyability it scored highly.

Of the ones I have been to, I like hangout.

I really wanted to go to the new napa valley fest, bottle rock, this year.

As far as location, no that is no joke at all. Maybe not the best lineup but the atmosphere and experience are one of a kind.
