I guess we can forget about the Rangers again now.

I disagree. He did a lot of good things, but Daniels has been effectively running the team for awhile now.

So much so that he got a promotion at the beginning of last season effectively making him the most powerful front office person.
ETA: Nolan was a figure head these last few years. I am not sure he had much or wanted much decision making on the baseball side.

Is this where I profess my undying love for Nolan Ryan?
ETA: inb4quidam saying JD will run the franchise into the ground.

does Ryan own a stake in the franchise?

yes he does. Not sure what the percentage is.

I thought Nolan owned the team.

Part of it. He was in the group that bought it with Greenberg. He was then forced out, and Nolan remained.

Owns a small portion. I want to say 2-5%.

I bet he goes to the Astros in some capacity soon

As far as I'm concerned he will forever be "the face" of the Texas Rangers.
As an addition, the first baseball game I ever attended was his 299th win, saw him pitch several times after that and spent a childhood racking up his baseball cards...all that to say...yes I am biased.
Go Rangers. Next year is our year.

Love Nolan, but you can see where he'd eventually clash with the brash young number cruncher.
Rangers will be fine as long as current ownership and JD are in charge. They like to win as opposed to previous ownership.

My favorite player of all time, childhood hero. The GOAT in terms of fastball and strike outs.
